Day24

GIORNO 24

Questa mattina mi sveglio presto perchè sono abbastanza agitata per il test di anatomia (questa volta è un po' più complicato della settimana scorsa perchè ci sono molte più parole da memorizzare). Mi alzo, faccio colazione con calma perchè ho davvero tanto tempo, mi preparo e andiamo a scuola, pronti per una nuova giornata prima del weekend lungo che ci aspetta (fino a martedì!!). 
Mi diverto in particolare durante la lezione di calculus, dove ci alziamo tutti in piedi, occupiamo un o spazio in una delle mille lavagne che tappezzano tutto il perimetro dell'aula e facciamo esercizi sui limiti, sfidando i nostri compagni sulla velocità. Inizio a chiacchierare con tre ragazzi molto simpatici che mi fanno davvero ridere e l'ora vola via!
Poi pranzo con Barbara, Nanna (danese), Suniva (norvegese), Ann (tedesca), tre ragazze americane e il figlio del mio prof di matematica (che è anche nella squadra di cross country). Mangiamo all'aperto sotto un albero e scopriamo qualcosa di più di ciascuna di noi.
Il test di anatomia fila liscio e sono proprio contenta, perchè quando la campana suona siamo liberi! Propongo a Barbara se vuole andare a piedi al supermercato per comprare gli ingredienti che ci servono per le nostre ricette (pizza io e cous cous lei), e accetta volentieri, quindi ci dirigiamo verso King's Sooper. Dopo qualche problema nel trovare qualcosa o nell'usare la cassa automatica, riusciamo a fare tutto e Gary ci viene a prendere (grazie grazie grazie per la tua disponibilità!!).
Una volta a casa facciamo una merenda con cereali, yogurt e frutta e poi corriamo nella stanza di Barbara, dove c'è il pacco di vestiti/scarpe che ha ordinato lo scorso fine settimana. Lei prova tutto e mi piacciono le sue scelte (ha molto più stile di me, io purtroppo non tengo molto all'aspetto...). Ci divertiamo e inizio a provare anche io dei vestiti che ho in camera.
Per cena siamo a casa solo Barbara ed io: lei si fa la pasta al pesto (ho creato un mostro, adesso questo è il suo piatto preferito!!) e io mangio la carne avanzata dall'altra sera. Poi chieccheriamo tanto e andiamo a dormire!

DAY 24

This morning I wake up early because I keep thinking about the anatomy test (this time it's a bit more complicated than last week because there are many more words to be memorized). I get up, have breakfast very calmly because I have a lot of time, get ready and go to school, ready for a new day, before the long weekend that is waiting for us (until Tuesday!!).
I particularly enjoy the calculus lesson, where we stand up, occupy a spot in one of the many boards that cover the entire perimeter of the classroom, and do exercises on limits, challenging our classmates on the speed. I start chatting with three very nice guys who make me laugh a lot and the time flies away!
Then I have lunch with Barbara, Nanna (Danish), Suniva (Norwegian), Ann (German), three American girls and my math teacher's son (who is also in the cross country team). We eat outside under a tree and discover something more of each of us.
The anatomy test goes well and I am really happy, because when the bell rings, we are free! 
I propose to Barbara if she wants to walk to the supermarket to buy the ingredients that we need for our recipes (pizza for me and couscous for her), and she'is happy, so we head to King Sooper's. After some trouble finding something and using the cash machine, we finally pay and Gary comes to pick us up (thank you thank you thank you, for your time and willingness!!).
Once home, we have a snack with cereal, yogurt and fruit and then we run into Barbara's room, where there are the clothes/shoes that she ordered last weekend. She tries everything on and I like her choices (she's a lot more stylish than me, I unfortunately do not care about my appearance...). We have fun and I also start to try some of my clothes on!
It's just Barbara and me for dinner: she cooks pasta with pesto for her (I created e monster, now this is her favourite dish!!) and I have meat leftovers. Then we talk a lot and go to sleep!!

Day17

GIORNO 17

Oggi vado a scuola con il sorriso: è venerdì e questo significa che domani si dorme e ci si rilassa!
Durante la prima ora completo il primo progetto di Computer Graphics: un poster creato con InDesign di Adobe che parla di noi stessi e che deve toccare certi argomenti rispettando certe regole. Quando lo stampo sono contenta perchè è il mio primo lavoro del genere e mi diverte un sacco "smanettare" con il computer!
Tutto procede normalmente nei periodi successivi, mangio in cortile con Barbara ed Emily (la ragazza che ieri ha ospitato la "spaghetti night") e poi torniamo a lezione. Nel periodo buco ripasso per il test di anatomia (ultima ora) e quando arriva sono abbastanza agitata. Il test è fatto da esercizi a crocette o di collegamento, per un totale di 50 domande. Completiamo il quiz su carta ma poi digitiamo le risposte su un mini-computer (che assomiglia ad un cellulare): il prof correggerà tutti i compiti semplicemente collegando il dispositivo al suo computer... facile, no?!
Alla fine dell'ora l'insegnante ci legge le risposte e... tutto giusto!
Quando torniamo a casa Barbara si prepara per andare alla sua prima partita di football con la squadra di cheerleader mentre Ann ed io andiamo a fare la spesa: stasera cuciniamo insieme, provando un piatto nuovo per entrambe, non vedo l'ora!
Prima di comprare gli ingredienti dobbiamo decidere quale ricetta seguire, quindi portiamo al supermercato 4 libri di cucina diversi (Italiano, Portoricano, Americano e Messicano). Ci sediamo ai tavolini all'entrata e sfogliamo ma non riusciamo a decidere, quindi Ann accende il telefono e in meno di 5 minuti abbiamo la ricetta: chicken enchiladas, ovvero pollo, chilly, formaggio, tortillas, pomodoro e chi più ne ha più ne metta. La cosa divertente è che compriamo gli ingredienti seguendo una ricetta ma poi, una volta a casa, iniziamo a cucinare seguendone un'altra. Il risultato è che inventiamo la nostra ricetta e siamo "spaventate" (e molto divertite) per la riuscita o meno del piatto. 
Mentre aspettiamo che cuocia, Gary va dal parrucchiere mentre Ann ed io facciamo una passeggiata chiaccherando tanto!
Quando mangiamo per cena assaggiamo per prime e... è davvero buono!!

DAY 17

Today I go to school with a big smile: it's Friday and this means that tomorrow I can sleep in and relax!
During the first hour, I complete my first Computer Graphics project: a poster/article created with Adobe InDesign that is about of ourselves and that has to touch certain issues following certain rules. When I print it I'm happy because it's my first one and I enjoy a lot "hacking" with computers!
All proceeds normally in the other periods, I eat in the courtyard with Barbara and Emily (the girl who yesterday hosted the "spaghetti night") and then go back to classes. During the period off I review things for the anatomy test (8th period) and when the moment comes I'm pretty excited. The test is composed of multiple choice excercises, for a total of 50 questions. We complete the quiz on paper sheet but then we type the answers on a mini-computer (that looks like a cell phone): the teacher will correct all the tests by simply connecting this devices to his computer ... easy, right ?!
At the end of the hour the teacher reads the answers out loud and ... I picked all the right answers!
When we go home Barbara prepares for his first football game with the cheerleading team, while Ann and I go to the grocery store: tonight we cook together, trying a new dish that neither of us know, I'm looking forward to it
Before we buy the ingredients we need to decide which recipe we want to follow, so we bring  4 different cookbooks to the supermarket (Italian, Puerto Rican, American and Mexican). We sit at a table and look them but we can not decide, then Ann turns her cell-phone on and in less than five minutes we have the recipe in less than five minutes: chicken enchiladas with chicken, chilly, cheese, tortillas, tomatoes and so on and so forth. 
The funny thing is that we buy the ingredients following a recipe but then, when we get home, we begin to cook by following another one. The result is that we invent our recipe and we are "afraid" (and very fun) for the success or failure of the plate.
While it's cooking in the oven, Gary goes to the hairdresser and Ann and I take a walk chatting a lot!

When we eat for dinner we tasted first, and ... it's really good !!
