Day60

GIORNO 60

DAY 60

This morning I vacuum, change the sheets in my bed and wipe the dust in my bedroom: here it is tradition to clean the house before going on vacation, and it's time for us, given that on Tuesday we leave for... Los Angeles!!!
Then I go running and take a shower, while my computer is upgrading to Windows 10 (it was on all night and, after about 20 hours, it did it!!!).
In the afternoon, Briana comes here and helps us preparing for the homecoming. We take some pics and then we go out: the party starts at 8 and ends at about 11 pm (I like these times, it's much better than the Italian parties, which, for whatever strange reason, start at midnight and last until 4 or 5 am!).
Briana, WIll, Ann and Gary do a surprise for us and they take us out for dinner: it' a mexican restaurant and we eat very very well!!! Thanks a lot, for everything!!!
I had so much fun: thank you all for this wonderful night, it will always be a vivid memory in my heart!

Dear Alpha test (Medical school entry test), we are proceeding slowly, but we're proceeding at least!!

Day20

GIORNO 20

Buona notte e sogni d'oro!!

DAY 20

In the first period I relax: I have Computer Graphics but, having finished the project on Friday, the teacher tells me that I can take it easy today!
The rest is all ok: I take a few pictures to the drawings that I'm completing with the Drawing class (I have really scarce artistic skills, unfortunately, but I commit myself and at the same time relax listening to the music), in the Calculus class we finish the three pillars of the subject, which are derivatives, integrals and limits (the last in particular intrigues me a lot) and in the Anatomy / Physiology class we begin to learn prefixes and roots of many anatomical terms (so we will always know that adrenaline and epinephrine are exactly the same thing!) .
I have lunch with Barbara and Nana, a Danish exchange student, and in the free period Barbara and I go to the library and do our homework (we support each other and I help her with some algebra exercises). At least we can relax when we get home!
After our practices, cheerleading Barbara and cross country I, Ann and Gary pick us up: they have just finished a tennis match and they seem really fun!
For dinner fried zucchini with eggs and cheese, macaroni cheese and strawberries.
Before coming to bed, Ann asks us if we want to paint, imitating a project she saw on "Pintarest". She explains us something and then we start, with music in the living room. In the next days I'll finish my "Masterpiece" (?!) and I'll post some pics, now it's too early!
Good night!!

Grazie Ann!! -- Thank you Ann!!

Day17

GIORNO 17

DAY 17

Today I go to school with a big smile: it's Friday and this means that tomorrow I can sleep in and relax!
During the first hour, I complete my first Computer Graphics project: a poster/article created with Adobe InDesign that is about of ourselves and that has to touch certain issues following certain rules. When I print it I'm happy because it's my first one and I enjoy a lot "hacking" with computers!
All proceeds normally in the other periods, I eat in the courtyard with Barbara and Emily (the girl who yesterday hosted the "spaghetti night") and then go back to classes. During the period off I review things for the anatomy test (8th period) and when the moment comes I'm pretty excited. The test is composed of multiple choice excercises, for a total of 50 questions. We complete the quiz on paper sheet but then we type the answers on a mini-computer (that looks like a cell phone): the teacher will correct all the tests by simply connecting this devices to his computer ... easy, right ?!
At the end of the hour the teacher reads the answers out loud and ... I picked all the right answers!
When we go home Barbara prepares for his first football game with the cheerleading team, while Ann and I go to the grocery store: tonight we cook together, trying a new dish that neither of us know, I'm looking forward to it
Before we buy the ingredients we need to decide which recipe we want to follow, so we bring  4 different cookbooks to the supermarket (Italian, Puerto Rican, American and Mexican). We sit at a table and look them but we can not decide, then Ann turns her cell-phone on and in less than five minutes we have the recipe in less than five minutes: chicken enchiladas with chicken, chilly, cheese, tortillas, tomatoes and so on and so forth.
The funny thing is that we buy the ingredients following a recipe but then, when we get home, we begin to cook by following another one. The result is that we invent our recipe and we are "afraid" (and very fun) for the success or failure of the plate.
While it's cooking in the oven, Gary goes to the hairdresser and Ann and I take a walk chatting a lot!

When we eat for dinner we tasted first, and ... it's really good !!

Day7

GIORNO 7

  • English: è l'equivalente di italiano e letteratura italiana e, insieme a US history, è obbligatorio.
  • German: inizierò a studiare tedesco, finalmente!
  • US history

DAY 7

First of all: it's already been a week since I'm here, I'm surprised how time blows away!
Today is a kind of "school day": after the usual Cross Country practice in the morning (today it is really hard as we run for 2000, 1200 and 800 m each twice), I change my trainers, drink some water and go to the School Counselor office. Barbara chooses her subjects first and then, after about 45 minutes, it's my turn: the communication is easy and I get to have all the subjects I longed to.
Here are the subjects of my first semester, in this order:
  • Computer graphics: we'll learn how to use computer programs and I promise I'll put what I'll learn into practice here, in this blog!
  • English 11
  • Lifeguarding:when I'll be done, hopefully, I'll get the certificate!
  • AP Calculus AB: there was a little problem with this subject but we fixed it just with an email.
  • Period off: I think I'll spend it in the school library.
  • German: it's been my dream since I was a little child!
  •  Human Anatomy and Physiology: this should help me with my dream of becoming a surgeon.
I'm really happy!!!
Afterwards we look for our classes using a little map of the school. Tomorrow we'll be given the lockers and I'll feel even more like an American girl!
Then we come back home, have lunch and go out once again: we say hi to Justin and his family (they're preparing for their first day of school, too), Barbara as her physical for the dance team, we do the shop and buy materials for school and ingredients for pizza (I'll cook that tomorrow: cross your fingers!).
We come back home and we're quite tired, we have breakfast for dinner: it sounds weird but Ann and Gary call it like that, because it's actually made of eggs, bacon and waffles.
It's 9.30, good night everybody!
