Durante il pranzo faccio un test di anatomia: possiamo usare gli appunti e collaborare con un partner (Angelique). Per questo motivo, la prof non ci chiede nozioni, ma applicazioni pratiche. L'unità è il sistema circolatorio, e le domande sono stimolanti.

La mia preferita è quella che espone la situazione per la quale due pazienti hanno bisogno di trapianto di cuore, ma solo un cuore è disponibile; dobbiamo, in base ai valori forniti, decidere chi sarà il "fortunato". Mi metto in gioco, e nella mia testa sono una dottoressa in sala operatoria. Non vedo l'ora di studiare medicina. Grazie America per farmi provare emozioni così forti, a scuola.

During lunch, I take an anatomy test: we can use the notes and collaborate with a partner (Angelique). For this reason, the teacher does not ask us concepts, but practical applications. The unit is the circulatory system, and the questions are challenging.

My favorite is the one that explains the situation for which two patients are in need of a heart transplant, but only a heart is available; we must, according to the provided values, decide who will be the "lucky" one. I get in the game, and in my head I am a doctor in the OR. I look forward to studying medicine. Thanks America for making me feel such strong emotions at school.

Prima tappa: fiorista. Dopo aver guardato un po' di modelli per il fiore che attaccherà alla giaccha di Matt, ne scelgo uno che mi piace tantissimo. Chiedo di fare qualche modifica, perchè ho in mente esattamente quello che voglio, e alla fine sono super soddisfatta. Spero che piacerà anche a lui tanto quanto piace a me!!

First stop: florist. After looking some models for boutonnieres to stick to Matt's jacket, I choose one that I love. I ask the florist to make some changes, because I have in mind exactly what I want, and in the end I am super satisfied. I hope he will also enjoy it as much as I do!!

Nel pomeriggio, vado a fare shopping con la mia donna preferita: Ann. Non voglio pubblicare foto qui, perchè voglio che qualcosa rimanga segreto, ma posso dirvi che ho trovato tutto quello di cui avevo bisogno, e per scarpe ho scelto dei sandaletti. Appena torno a casa, li provo col vestito, e tremo perchè sono molto emozionata!

In the afternoon, I go shopping with my favorite woman, Ann. I will not post photos here, because I want that something remains secret, but I can tell you that I found everything I needed, and I have chosen sandals as for shoes. As soon as I get home, I try them with the dress, and I tremble because I'm very excited!

Mentre Ann ed io siamo fuori, Gary taglia l'erba: mi dice che nevica per tutto il tempo in cui lui è fuori, ma devo proprio dirlo: il risultato è proprio ottimo. Grazie Gary!!

Colazione alle 7.30 con porridge, kiwi e mirtilli, mentre guardo fuori dalla finestra e penso a quando potrò far colazione all'aperto...
Breakfast at 7.30 am with oatmeal, kiwi and blueberry, while I look out of the window and I think about the time when I'll be able to eat outdoors...

Skype con la mia famiglia: durante la prima mezz'ora ci sono anche mio papà e mia sorella, ma poi escono e rimango con la mia mamma. Chiacchieriamo per tanto tempo (e forse oggi lei mi batte in quanto a "parlantina"), e mi sembra di essere lì con lei, a parlare di tutto quello che ci piace. Ti amo mami.
Skype with my family: during the first half hour, my dad and my sister are also there, but then they go out and I stay with my mom. We chat for a long time (and she maybe beats me at talking a lot today), and I feel like I am there with her, talking about everything we like. I love you mami.

Ann va a fare la spesa di prima mattina, e compra gli ingredienti per la pizza che preparerò per stasera, insegnando a Barbara come fare. Mi mancava il gesto di impastare, c'è come una magia nascosta nella cucina e io la sento tutta dentro di me...

Ann goes to grocery shop in the early morning, and she buys the ingredients for the pizza that I will prepare for tonight, teaching Barbara how to do it. I missed the gesture of kneading, there is like a hidden magic in the kitchen, and I feel it all inside me...

Dopo pranzo, Gary ci accompagna da Starbucks, dove facciamo i compiti. Io lavoro ad uno studio clinico sulla celiachia per anatomia, e scopro di essere molto più produttiva qui che a casa, perchè dopo un'ora e mezza finisco tutta la ricerca (fra l'altro interessante)!
After lunch, Gary takes us to Starbucks, where we do our homework. I work on a case study on Celiac disease for anatomy, and I find to be much more productive here than at home, because after an hour and a half I am done with all the research (which, by the way, is very interesting)!

...E quando è nel piatto, sono così contenta che mi viene quasi da piangere. E' una tradizione di famiglia alla quale ho scoperto di essere legata molto più di quanto pensassi (prendevo in giro mio fratello perchè per lui la pizza della domenica era sacra, ma ora mi trovo ad essere completamente d'accordo!!).
Grazie Ann, grazie Gary, per avermi fatto cucinare quello che per me è il mio piatto preferito da preparare. <3
...And when it is in the plate, I'm so happy that I almost want to cry. It's a family tradition to which I find myself to be bonded so much more than I thought (I used to tease my brother because the pizza on Sunday was sacred for him, but now I find myself to completely agree!!).

Progetto 3D per la classe di calculus: Nicole, compagna di classe e di tennis, viene a casa nostra dopo l'allenamento e, dopo 2 ore di duro lavoro, concludiamo il progetto!
3D project for the calculus class: Nicole, classmate and tennis player, comes to our house after practice and, after two hours of intense work, we complete our project!

Oggi è l'ultimo giorno di dissezione del gatto: tiriamo tutti un sospiro di sollievo, perchè non è sempre stato facile prendere in mano il bisturi e tagliare per un'ora e mezza pelle, muscoli, organi. Ma sono stata in un gruppo bellissimo, e ho potuto osservare dal vivo tutto quello che studiavamo in classe, e non ha prezzo.

Grazie America, ricorderò tutto quello che ho visto e toccato, e sarò sempre grata per averlo potuto fare durante la scuola superiore.

Today is the last day of cat dissection: we all pull a sigh of relief, because it was not always easy to pick up the scalpel and cut for an hour and a half skin, muscles, organs. But I was in a wonderful group, and I could observe everything we studied in class, and this is just priceless.

Thanks America, I will always remember everything I've seen and touched, and I will always be grateful for having been able to do this in high school.

Justin ed Elora si svegliano prestissimo, anche se andranno a scuola più tardi, e si mettono in posa da boss mentre io sto per uscire. La giornata inizia con il sorriso!
Justin and Elora wake up very early, even if they'll go to school later, and they pose like a boss while I'm about to go out. The day starts with a smile!

Ceniamo con Will e poi giochiamo a carte: Ann vince tutte le mani, come è possibile? Un po' di bravura c'è sicuramente, ma siamo tutti impressionati dalla incredibile fortuna che sembra sempre giocare dalla sua parte... Ma devo ammettere che ci divertiamo tanto insieme, e questo è quello che conta di più!

Poi guardiamo il primo episodio della seconda stagione di "Better Call Saul" -- spin off di Breaking Bad -- e poi nanna.

We have dinner with Will and then play cards: Ann wins every hand, how is it possible? A little bit of skill is definitely there, but we are all impressed by the incredible luck that always seems to play on her side... But I have to admit that we have a lot of fun together, and that's what counts the most!

Then we watch the first episode of the second season of "Better Call Saul" - the Breaking Bad spin off - and then go to sleep.

Oggi vi spiego come ho invitato un ragazzo al prossimo ballo della scuola...

Today I will explain you how I invited a guy to the next school dance...

Tutto è iniziato ieri sera, quando ho trovato il coraggio, che cercavo da tanto, per invitare Matt, un amico specials che ho conosciuto subito, all'inizio dell'esperienza. Nel primo semestre abbiamo avuto le classi di inglese e modern america insieme, e siamo anche entrambi nello Student council, mentre in questo nuovo semestre siamo nella stessa classe di modern america e abbiamo la stessa ora buca alla fine della giornata. Ci siamo conosciuti di più in questi ultimi mesi, e ho sempre apprezzato i momenti che abbiamo passato insieme, ridendo e scherzando. Sarà una serata bellissima, lo so già!
It all started last night, when I finally found the courage to invite Matt, a special friend that I met right at the beginning of the experience. In the first semester, we had the English and modern america classes together, and we are both in the Student council, while in this new semester we are in the same modern America class and we have the same off hour at the end of the day. We got to know each other more in these past months, and I have always enjoyed the moments we spent together, laughing and joking. It will be a beautiful evening, I already know!

Durante l'ora di modern america, partecipiamo ad un progetto al computer (siamo nello stesso gruppo), e ad un certo punto mi allontano dal laboratorio, torno in classe, apro una tasca laterale del suo zaino, e ci infilo il pacchetto che ho preparato per lui. Dopodichè torno al computer come se niente fosse. Quando l'ora finisce, faccio il test di anatomia (che fra l'altro va molto bene - 75/60, guadagno i punti extra - e sono soddisfatta), e poi vado da Starbucks, da dove gli mando questo snapchat.
E la sua risposta è... "Of course I'll go with you!"
During the modern America class, we participate in a computer project (we are in the same group), and at some point I walk away from the lab, go back to class, open a side pocket of his backpack, and there I put the package I prepared for him. Then I go back to the computer as if nothing happened. When the hour is over, I do the anatomy test (which is very good - 75/60, getting the extra points - and I'm satisfied), and then I go to Starbucks, from where I send him this Snapchat.
His answer is... "Of course I'll go with you!"

Mi chiede cosa indosserò, e io penso ad una gonnellina che ho portato anche alle Hawaii. Continuo a sorridere, perchè sono proprio felice se penso a questa nuova esperienza Americana!
He asked me what I'm gonna wear, and I think of a skirt that I also brought to Hawaii. I keep smiling, cause I'm really happy when I think of this new American experience!

Un po' di serietà: caffè e ripasso...
A bit of seriousness: coffee and rehearse...

Per cena, Gary prepara un petto di pollo buonissimo, insieme a riso, quinoa e carote, e vediamo Will di nuovo, dopo tante settimane. Dopo mangiato, Barbara ed io andiamo a fare una lunga passeggiata, durante la quale chiacchieriamo di tutte le belle cose che sono successe durante la giornata. Poi arriva Ann, con Justin ed Elora, che dormiranno qui stanotte. Justin costruisce un tavolo di carta e mi chiede: "Se riesco a finirlo, posso essere il boss?". Ebbene sì Justin, una volta che vedo l'opera completa, te lo devo proprio concedere: "Congratulazioni boss!!"

For dinner, Gary prepares a delicious chicken breast, along with rice, quinoa and carrots, and we see Will again, after so many weeks. After dinner, Barbara and I take a long walk, during which we talk of all the good things that happened during the day. Then Ann gets home with Justin and Elora, who will sleep here tonight. Justin builds a paper table and asks me: "If I can finish it, I can be the boss?". Yes Justin, once I see the complete work, I really have to give you this: "Congratulations boss!!"

Oggi vado con il prof e alcuni compagni di anatomia ad un laboratorio a Fort Collins, dove assisteremo ad una lezione sul corpo umano, di fronte ad un cadavere. Il cadavere è stato dissezionato ed è quindi riconoscibile in tutte le sue parti. Abbiamo indossato il camice e i guanti, e abbiamo potuto osservare e toccare con mano tutti gli organi, ossa, tendini... 

Non scenderò in particolari, perchè non ritengo sia giusto nei confronti del cadavere, ma posso dire che è stata per un'esperienza davvero davvero toccante, interessante, piena. Posso solo dire che ce l'ho fatta, non sono svenuta nè sentita male (cosa che temevo davvero), anche se all'inizio, l'odore pungente e la vista di quello che ci aspettava, mi hanno spaventata un po'. 

Grazie per questa altra, nuova esperienza.

A scuola procede tutto bene, durante l'ora di Inglese facciamo una competizione di vocaboli e vinco delle caramelle (che però non mangio perchè ho deciso di evitare i dolci...)!

Nel pomeriggio vado in piscina, mentre Barbara mi aspetta in biblioteca, poi la aiuto per un'ora a fare matematica e, una volta finiti i suoi esercizi, camminiamo verso Mo' Betta Gumbo, dove mangiamo uno squisito Gumbo (tipo spezzatino di pollo, con riso e pane di granoturco. Gnam Gnam). 

Barbara, oggi ho passato proprio una bella serata con te, ti voglio bene.

Ann e Gary ci vengono a prendere, torniamo a casa (e per fortuna è presto, sono solo le sette, quindi abbiamo tempo per preparare il pranzo per domani, scrivere e rilassarci).

Alla tarda ora delle 9, Chiarina va a dormire. Notte. 

Today, with my anatomy teacher and some classmates, I go to a lab in Fort Collins, where we will attend a lecture on the human body, in front of a corpse. The corpse was dissected and is then recognizable in all its parts. We wore the gown and gloves, and we could see and touch all the organs, bones, tendons... 

I will not go into details, because I think it is not fair to the man, but I can say that it was a really really touching, interesting, full experience. I can only say that I did not neither fainted nor felt bad (which I really feared), although at the beginning, the pungent smell and the sight of what was waiting for us, scared me a little. 

Thank you for this other, new experience.

At school everything goes well, during the English class we do a "competition game" about vocabulary and I win the candies (but I do not eat them because I have decided to avoid sweets ...)!

In the afternoon, I go to the pool, while Barbara is waiting for me in the library, then I help her for an hour to do maths and, once we finish her exercises, we walk to Mo' Betta Gumbo, where we eat a delicious Gumbo (a kind of chicken stew, with rice and corn bread. Yum Yum).

Barbara, today I just spent a very nice evening with you, I love you.

Ann and Gary pick us up, we go home (and luckily it is not late, it's only 7 pm, so we have time to prepare the lunch for tomorrow, write and relax).

At the late hour of 9 pm, Chiarina goes to sleep. Night.

GIORNO 77

Tornata a casa da scuola, non avendo niente in particolare da fare, mi sdraio e chiudo gli occhi, così il riposino si trasforma in un dormire come un sasso per circa 1 ora e mezza! 
Fatto sta che, superati quei cinque/dieci minuti di inerzia che mi sorprendono sempre appena mi sveglio (e che suscitano domande del tipo "Chi sono?", "Dove sono?" o "Quanto ho dormito?"), poi sono fresca e carica, così decido di andare a fare una mezz'oretta di corsa, seguita da un po' di stretching (tanto odiato quanto utile e benefico).
Bevo un thè allo zenzero e limone che mi piace molto, poi ceniamo e guardiamo un nuovo episodio di Quantico!

DAY 77

When i come home from school, having nothing in particular to do, I lie down and close my eyes, and the nap is soon transformed into a sleep like a log for about one hour and a half!
But, after having overcome the five/ten minutes of inactivity that always surprise me when I wake up (and that rise questions such as "Who am I?", "Where am I?" or "How long did I sleep?"), then I am fresh and energetic, so I decide to go for a half hour run, followed by a bit of stretching (Which I hate but understand to be useful and beneficial).
I drink a ginger and lemon tea that I really like, then have dinner and watch a new episode of Quantico!

GIORNO 58

Oggi convivo con un forte mal di testa, ma: Ann ci viene a prendere a scuola, così che non dobbiamo prendere l'autobus, arriviamo a casa presto e mi metto a letto per un'oretta, e Ann prepara una zuppa calda (tipo pastina) che scalda stomaco e cuore!
Mentre mi preparo per andare a scuola, ricevo un messaggio vocale su Whatsapp, da parte di Sara e Chiara, che mi salutano, tengono compagnia, aggiornano e mi fanno salutare gli altri compagni di classe: che emozione!!!
Durante l'ora di anatomia, facciamo un esperimento, in cui osserviamo, classifichiamo e descriviamo varie ossa del corpo: E' davvero davvero interessante!
Poi votiamo per il re e la regina dell'homecoming.
Per pranzo, Barbara ed io mangiamo da Qdoba: "Mexican Gumbo", che buono! Poi andiamo da Starbucks e studio per il test di Storia di domani, sorseggiando un'ottimo cafè mocha.
Di sera guardo Grey's Anatomy, faccio un po' di stretching e poi vado a dormire. Buona notte a tutti!

DAY 58

Today I live with a severe headache, but: Ann picks us up from school, so that we do not have to take the bus, we get home early and have time for a nap, and Ann prepares a hot soup (with noodles) that warms both the stomach and the heart!
While I'm preparing to go to school, I receive a voice message on Whatsapp, by Sara and Chiara, who say hi, keep me company, update me and make me say hello to the other classmates: how touching!!!
During the anatomy class, we do a lab, in which we observe, classify and describe various bones of the body: it's really really interesting!
Then we vote for the homecoming king and queen.
For lunch, Barbara and I eat at Qdoba: "Mexican Gumbo", that's SO good! Then we go to Starbucks and study for the history test that we'll take tomorrow, sipping an super cafe mocha.
In the evening, I watch Grey's Anatomy, I do some stretching and then go to sleep. Good night to all!

Nell'ora di inglese facciamo un gioco su alcune parole che dobbiamo studiare per il test di vocabolario di domani, e mi capita di vincerlo, quindi ricevo tre caramelle come premio e sono molto divertita. Nell'ultima ora, invece, abbiamo il primo laboratorio di anatomia-istologia (osserviamo cellule di diversi tessuti) e sono entusiasta di questo!
Poi ho cross country, con le foto di gruppo (dobbiamo indossare una lunga divisa nera e soffriamo un sacco il caldo).
Per cena siamo ospiti di amici di Ann e Gary: mangiamo all'aperto e trascorriamo una bellissima serata tutti insieme!

P.s. Sara ed Erica, grazie di cuore per avermi scritto, aggiornata e divertita, oggi, con i vostri messaggi. Sono piccole cose che però significano tantissimo per me.

DAY 41

In the English lesson we do a game on some words that we have to study for the vocabulary test that we'll have tomorrow, and I happen to win, so I get three candies as a reward and I think it's very fun. In the last hour, we have the first anatomy-histology lab (we observe cells of various tissues) and I'm excited about this!
Then I have cross country, we take group photos (we have to wear a long black uniform and we suffer a lot from the heat!!).
For dinner we are guests of friends of Ann and Gary: we eat outdoors and have a wonderful evening all together!
