La giornata inizia all'aperto - 3°C (ricordiamo che oggi è il 14 MAGGIO! Oh Colorado...). Andiamo ad Erie a guardare la partita di calcio di Elora, sedendoci a bordo campo su una coperta che fortunatamente Briana ha portato!
The day starts outdoors - 37°F (let's remember that today is MAY 14th! Oh Colorado...). We go  to Erie to watch Elora's soccer game, sitting on the side of the field on a blanket that Briana fortunately brought over!

Poi andiamo a questa fiera all'aperto, con giostre e "Food Trucks" -- camion che vendono qualsiasi tipo di cibo. Fa davvero tanto tanto freddo, ma incontriamo due coppie di amici con le loro figlie, e spendiamo dei bei momenti insieme!!
Then we go to an outdoors carnival, with rides and Food Trucks that sell any kind of food. It is really really cold, but we meet two other couples of friends with their daughters, and we spend some very nice moments together!!

Shayne sulla ruota panoramica (una bellissima vista sulla... tangenziale): mi ha convinta a salire, perchè non va troppo forte e perchè non ruota su se stessa, bene bene!

La miglior parte della serata è sicuramente la cena: abbiamo chiacchierato, visto video che non potrò cancellare dalla mia memoria, riso tanto e conosciuto persone spontaneamente simpatiche. Il programma era quello di andare a fare shopping, ma per me, che non sono una donna da negozi, questo è stato il miglior sabato sera che potessi chiedere per oggi, e devo dire grazie alla mia vecchia sorella Bri e al suo Shayne: siete i migliori!!

The best part of the evening is definitely the dinner: we chatted, watched videos that I will never be able to erase from my memory, laughed so much and met people who are spontaneously funny. The program was to go shopping, but for me, since I'm not a "shopping girl", this was the best Saturday night I could ask for today, and I must say thanks to my older sister Bri and her Shayne: you guys rock it!!

Ieri sera ho finalmente iniziato questo libro, che i miei mi avevano spedito a Natale: meglio tardi che mai!
Last night I started this book, that my parents sent me at Christmas: it's better late than never!

Oggi siamo a scuola con questa canottiera per il Summer Bash che abbiamo organizzato con lo Student Council: dobbiamo pubblicizzare, ma fa freschino!!
Today we are at school with this tank top for the Summer Bash that we organized with the Student Council: we have to advertise it, but it is chilly!!

Il prof è seduto su questo trampolino, collegato allo schermo giallo sulla destra. Gli studenti si alternano per lanciare una palla e cercare di colpire un pulsante sullo schermo, che farà precipitare il prof nell'acqua. Non vorrei essere nei suoi panni, perchè pensare a tornare su tutto bagnato mi fa venire i brividi!

The teacher is sitting on this pad, which is connected to the yellow screen on the right. Students take turns to throw a ball and try to hit a button on the screen, which will make the teacher jump down into the water. I would not want to be in his shoes, because thinking about coming back up all wet gives me the chills!

Vasi di fiori ai lati della porta di casa: mi piacciono troppo e sono la cosa che mi mette più felicità la mattina, quando vado a scuola!

In Anatomia, studiamo il sistema riproduttivo: non essendo programma per l'esame finale, ascoltiamo e facciamo domande, soltanto per il piacere di conoscere, e credetemi, è una bella sensazione!!

In Anatomy, we study the reproductive system: since it's not in the final exam, we listen and ask questions, just for the pleasure of knowing, and believe me, it feels good!!

Apro la porta della camera alle 6 e mezza della mattina, ed è con immensa gioia che vedo il sole entrare dalle finestre della sala ed illuminare le scale. Finalmente primavera, ora si che posso gridare: è maggio e si vede!

Quindi, mi preparo, e infilo nello zaino i vestiti da corsa: niente scuse oggi, con una giornata così si va a correre a gambe levate! Torno anche a casa camminando, e piego male la gamba su un sasso, vedendo le stelle e finendo la passeggiata con dolore. Ma va bene così, e sapete perchè? Stasera cucino io!

Poi faccio Skype con Beppe, dopo tanto tempo che non lo vedevo, e vado a nanna presto, pronta per un'altra bella giornata!

I open the door of my room at 6.30 in the morning, and it is with immense joy that I see the sun coming through the windows of the front room and illuminate the stairs. Dear spring, I can finally yell that it's May and we can see it!

So, I get ready, and I put workout clothes in the backpack: no excuses today, with a day like this, I have to run! I also get back at home walking, and I wrongly bend my leg on a rock, seeing the stars and ending the walk with pain. But that's okay, and you know why? Tonight I'm cooking!

Ieri abbiamo anche avuto l'ultimo incontro con gli Exchange Students di Aspect: ecco i certificati ricevuti!
La fine è tristemente vicina, ma non troppo: amerò questo ultimo mese come nient'altro al mondo!!
Yesterday, we also had the last meeting with the Aspect Exchange Students: here are the certificates we received!
The end is sadly close, but not too much: I'll love this last month like nothing else in the world!!

Ann mi racconta anche di una notizia che ha sentito oggi alla televisione: una donna ha fatto causa a Starbucks, perchè i baristi riempiono più di metà dei bicchieri con ghiaccio al posto della bevanda per la quale si paga.

Qui in famiglia, abbiamo sempre aggirato il problema, chiedendo per il drink senza ghiaccio e aggiungendolo a casa, ma apparentemente non è proprio giusto che il cliente sia obbligato a far così. Date un occhiata all'articolo se avete tempo da perdere!

Ann also told me a story that she heard today on the tv news: a woman has sued Starbucks, because the baristas fill more than half the cups with ice instead of the actual drink for which you pay.

Here in this family, we have always worked around the problem by asking for the drink without ice and adding it at home, but apparently it's not really fair that the customer is obliged to do so.

Piccola (grande per me) soddisfazione della giornata: mio fratello che passa tutto il pomeriggio ad urlare per la casa "Chiara Muzio" e che dice a mia mamma che gli manco e che è ora che io torni.

In realtà io non voglio tornare, però un salto a casa lo farei volentieri, solo per saltare addosso a questo fratellone che non vedo da 9 mesi!

Small (big for me) satisfaction of the day: my brother, who spends all afternoon yelling around the house "Chiara Muzio" and telling my mom that he misses me and that it's time for me to come home.

Actually, I don't want to go back, but I would gladly swing by home, just to jump on this big brother that I haven't seen in nine months!

Chiedo un minuto di silenzio: oggi è un giorno triste, perchè è il 29 aprile, e manca solo un mese prima della mia partenza. Qui c'è il mio cuore, è il mio posto perfetto, il posto dove ho trovato me stessa, dove ho incontrato solo bellissime persone, dove ho provato fortissimi emozioni, e non posso pensare che ho solo trenta giorni rimasti qui.

Se volevo evitare di piangere, purtroppo non ce l'ho fatta.

Aiuto.

I ask for a minute of silence: today is a sad day, because it is April 29, only one month before my departure. My heart belongs to here, my perfect place, the place where I found myself, where I met only beautiful people, where I felt very strong emotions, and I can not think that I have only thirty days left here.

Appena mi sveglio, guardo fuori dalla finestra, e questa neve mi suggerisce: è venerdì, fa freddo, ed è presto --> tuta!

Having already taken the anatomy test that the rest of the class has to take today, the teacher writes me a pass to go to the library, where a very productive Chiara falls asleep on the couch, while thinking about Prom...

E poi la parte più bella della giornata inizia con Kylie e Riley. Prima tappa: Starbucks!
And then, the best part of the day starts with Kylie and Riley. First stop: Starbucks!

Seconda tappa: ci facciamo fare le unghie. Riley ed io scegliamo le French, applicando unghie finte. E' la prima volta in assoluto per me, e la sensazione è davvero strana, ma mi diverto ad assistere, e a chiacchierare con le ragazze nel frattempo. E' uno sfizio che ci togliamo e che mi godo al massimo!

Second stop: we go get our nails done. Riley and I chose the French, applying artificial nails. It 's the first time ever for me, and the feeling is really strange, but I have fun watching, and chatting with the girls in the meantime. It's a present that we give ourselves and I enjoy it to the fullest!

Andiamo a mangiare da PJ's, ristorante vicino ma che non avevo ancora mai provato (ottima scelta ragazze), e poi torniamo da Starbucks giusto per chiacchierare.
Grazie di tutto: unirmi alla squadra di tennis è stata la decisione migliore di questo anno, perchè non solo ho imparato un nuovo sport, ma ho conosciuto voi. Vi voglio tanto bene!!

We go eat at PJ's, a nearby restaurant that I had not tried yet (good choice girls), and then we go back to Starbucks just to hangout.
Thanks for everything: joining the tennis team was the best decision of this year, because not only did I learn a new sport, but I got to know you. I love you so much!!

Buongiorno mondo, è venerdì e sono molto molto contenta, perchè domani e domenica cucinerò tutto il giorno e non vedo l'ora!!
Good morning world, it's Friday and I'm very very happy, because tomorrow and Sunday I get to cook all the day, and I can't wait for it!!

Ho aspettato il risultato di questo test per settimane, perchè era molto più difficile del solito e avevo paura di aver fatto troppi errori. Quando però il prof mette i voti sul registro, e vedo il 100%, rimango stupita, contenta e la giornata prende una piega ancora migliore. Che bello!!
I have waited for this result for weeks because this test was much harder than usual and I was afraid of having made too many mistakes. However, when the teachers enters the grades in the gradebook, and I see my 100%, I am taken surprise, I am happy and the day becomes even better. Hurray!! 

Skype per una mezz'oretta con i miei genitori, e poi per più di un'ora con il mio fratellone. Ho la famiglia più bella del mondo, punto.
Skype for a half hour with my parents, and then for more than a hour with my big brother. I have the best family in the entire world, that's all.

Il mio programma è di tornare a casa a piedi, a bordo della strada (circa un'ora a buon passo), e quando Ann mi sorprende da Starbucks, mi tenta, chiedendomi se voglio tornare con lei in macchina. Per quanto allettante, decido di non accettare, e inizio a camminare, con guanti, cappellino e sciarpa, e cantando a squarciagola (dalla macchina nessuno mi può sentire!!) mentre marcio verso casa.
Che bell'idea, sono proprio contenta di aver trovato la forza ed essere andata!!

My plan is to go home on foot, on the edge of the road (about an hourwalking at a good pace), and when Ann surprises me at Starbucks, she tempts me, asking me if I want to go home by car with her. Despite the temptation, I decide not to accept, and I start walking, wearing gloves, hat and scarf, and singing out loud (no one can hear me from their car!!) while marching home.
What a beautiful idea, I'm really glad I found the strength and did this!!

Per cena, frullato di frutta e verdura e poi Grey's Anatomy. Poi vado a farmi due passi nel vicinato, mentre chiamo la Vale. Ora la giornata è ufficialmente completa e posso andare a dormire, aspettando con ansia domani. Buona notte!!

For dinner, fruit and vegetable shake and then Grey's Anatomy. Then I go walking in the neighborhood, while I call Vale. Now the day is officially complete and I can go to bed, waiting for tomorrow. Good night!!

Questa mattina dovevamo andare a Denver per incontrare Alex, il marito di Andrea (host sister), ma parte in anticipo e così non facciamo in tempo ad incontrarlo. Peccato.

This morning, we had to go to Denver to meet Alex, Andrea's ( host sister) husband, but he leaves earlier and so we don't have the chance to meet him. That's a pity.

La Dream Team parte: direzione lago per una camminata di poco più di 5 km! Abbiamo tutto l'occorrente: sole, felicità e forza|
The Dream Team leaves towards the lake for a 3.5 miles walk! We have everything we need: sun, happiness and strength!

Tre donne, tre caffè, divanetti all'aperto e chiacchiere. Cosa c'è di meglio...
Three women, three coffees, outdoors couch and chats. What's better than this...

Sulla via di casa ci fermiamo per visitare queste "case modello": le aziende immobiliari costruiscono e allestiscono queste case perchè possano essere visitate da chiunque fosse interessato a comprare casa, o semplicemente curiosare (come me!). La casa è grandissima e bellissima, vorrei vivere in una casa come questa un giorno...
On the way home, we stop to visit these "model homes": estate companies build and set up these homes so that they can be visited by anyone interested in buying a house, or simply browsing (like me!). The house is super huge and super pretty, I wish I lived in a house like this there someday...

Andiamo anche a visitare un ranch, e sono molto esaltata perchè penso si tratti di un vero ranch (tipo fattoria, come quelli che si vedono nei film), ma imparo che in America "ranch" è anche un tipo di casa, ad un solo livello invece che a più piani.

Che poi, dove volevo andarlo a trovare un ranch in Colorado, sulla cima delle Montagne Rocciose?! Ragiona, Chiara!

We also go to visit a ranch, and I'm very excited because I think it is a real ranch (kind of like a farm, like the ones you see in the movies), but I learn that in America "ranch" is also a kind of house, on one level rather than many stories.

And also, where did I want to go and find a ranch in Colorado, on top of the Rocky Mountains?! Think, Chiara!

Dopo pranzo torno all'amica bicicletta e le dedico mezz'ora della mia vita. Solo la musica mi fa continuare a pedalare, altrimenti andrei volentieri a farmi un pisolo!
After lunch, I go back to my friend bike and dedicate a half hour of my life. Only the music makes me keep paddling, otherwise I would willingly give myself a nap!

Per cena, andiamo a casa di amici e facciamo un barbecue all'aperto, grigliando... la pizza. E' un esperimento che non sono sicura ripeterei, ma almeno ho provato...

Quando siamo di nuovo a casa, vado a fare una passeggiata, ascoltando la musica e pensando tanto, poi sono pronta per affogare nel letto e in un mare di sogni. Buona notte!

For dinner, we go to some friends' house and we barbecue... pizza. It's an experiment that I'm not sure I would repeat, but at least I tried it...

When we're back home, I go for a walk, listening to music and thinking a lot, then I am ready to drown in the bed and in a sea of dreams. Good night!

Oggi è il giorno di Ann: ti voglio tanto bene e sono GRATA di averti come mamma.

Diciamo che i compiti di Calculus oggi sembrano quasi Cinese, e giovedì ho un test. Ce la facciamo? Si dai...
Let's say that the Calculus homework today seems almost Chinese, and I have a test on Thursday. Can I do it? Well, yes...

Oggi imparo a servire la palla da fondo campo (o meglio, mi viene spiegato come e mi cimento nella pratica): bisogna allungare il braccio sopra la testa il più possibile, e colpire con forza. Il problema è che, dopo due ore di allenamento al gelo, non sento più le dita, e trovare la forza di colpire la palla è difficile!! Appena finisce l'allenamento, mi metto addosso tutti i vestiti che ho, cammino verso Starbucks e mi rifugio sul divanetto, tremando per qualche minuto prima di scaldarmi, finalmente!
Today I learn to serve the ball from the baseline (or rather, it is explained to me how to do it and I try my best during practice): you have to stretch your arm above your head as much as possible, and hit the ball hard. The problem is that, after two hours of practice in the cold, I no longer feel my fingers, and finding the strength to hit the ball is hard!! As soon as the practice is over, I wear all the clothes I have in many layers, walk to Starbucks and I seek refuge on the couch, shivering for a few minutes before you warming up, finally!

Niente caffè a quest'ora, perchè sono già le 6 del pomeriggio, ma provo il frappuccino che prende di solito Barbara (al thè verde). E' davvero troppo dolce per me, anche se ho scelto quello che loro chiamano "unsweetened", quindi lo lascio a Barbara, che è contenta di berselo!
No coffee at this time, because it's already 6 pm, but I try the frappuccino that Barbara usually takes  (green tea). It 's really too sweet for me, even though I have ordered what they call "unsweetened", so I leave it to Barbara, who is happy to drink it!

Cena con Barbara, ma siamo stanche e non sappiamo dove andare, quindi andiamo al supermercato. Io mi prendo un'insalata e un panino, mentre lei prendere una caesar salad e una brioche. Non è il massimo, ma almeno siamo insieme. Scrivo anche ad Ann e le chiedo se vuole raggiungerci per un caffè: chiacchieriamo un po' e poi andiamo a casa, dove ci facciamo un frullato di frutta e guardiamo il primo episodio della nuova stagione di The Voice US.
Dinner with Barbara, but we are tired and we do not know where to go, so we just go to the grocery store. I take a salad and a little bread, while she takes a caesar salad and a croissant. Nothing great, but at least we're together. I also text Ann and ask her if he wants to reach for a coffee: we chat a bit and then we go home, where we make a fruit smoothie and watch the first episode of the new season of The Voice US.
