Ufficio postale, pranzo e giretto al parco con Dustin!

Poi aiuto coi lavori di casa e nell'orto, preparo una torta al cioccolato e guardiamo il film di Walt Disney "Prom": lo facciamo partire prima in francese, poi spagnolo, e finalmente inglese - unica lingua che riconosciamo e capiamo (ovviamente fatta eccezione per Barbara e il francese)!!.

Oggi ammetto di essere un po' malinconica: sono solo contenta di andare a dormire e riposarmi, prendendomi un po' di tempo per me, sperando che domani sia un po' più allegra... Ciao a tutti!

Then I help with the housework and garden, prepare a chocolate cake and watch the Walt Disney "Prom": we start it in French, Spanish and finally English  the only language we recognize and understand (obviously excepting Barbara and French)!!.

Today I admit to be a bit sad:I'm just happy to go to sleep and rest, taking some time for myself, hoping that tomorrow will be a bit more cheerful ... Hello everyone!

Un'oretta al Coffee Tree con Ann, mentre leggiamo i nostri bellissimi libri (lei mi batte, perchè nello stesso tempo in cui io riesco a leggere una ventina di  pagine, lei ne completa 60 e finisce il libro. Bhè, almeno ora possiamo guardare il film...)
An hour at the Coffee Tree with Ann, while we read our beautiful books (she beats me, because while I can read twenty pages, she completes 60 and finishes the book. Well, at least now we can watch the movie...)

A scuola oggi: ultimo giorno ufficiale. Colazione con i seniors e pep assembly in palestra. Molto emozionante: ho ufficialmente finito la mia storia più o meno intensa con Thompson Valley. E' stato un piacere!

At school today: last official day. Breakfast with the seniors and pep assembly in the gym. Very exciting: I have officially finished my more or less intense story with Thompson Valley. It was a pleasure!

Il Colorado mi ha fatto una sorpresa oggi e ha fatto risvegliare il sole: anche Chiara si è svegliata e ha fatto una lunga passeggiata all'aria aperta!
Colorado surprised me today and let the sun rise: even Chiara woke up and made a long walk in the open air!

Mentre cammino, vedo un uccellino bellissimo in mezzo alla strada, e quando sto per immortalarlo in una fotografia, vola via. Quando arrivo a casa, allora, lo ricerco su una guida che Ann e Gary hanno appena ricevuto da una coppia di amici, e sono contenta di trovarlo nella sezione "Uccelli delle montagne del West". Si chiama Western Tanager e i suoi colori vividi mi impressionano ancora adesso!

As I walk, I see a beautiful bird in the road, and when I'm about to immortalize it in a photograph, it flies away. When I get home, then, I look for it in a guide that Ann and Gary have just received from a couple of friends, and I'm glad to find it in the "Birds of the West mountain" section. It's called Western Tanager and its vivid colors impress me still now!

Tennis Banquet: è un'emozione forte rivedere tutte le compagne di squadra e i coach! E' stata una bellissima stagione, ho imparato un nuovo sport, che cercherò sicuramente di portare avanti, e sono grata di aver avuto un così bel supporto dai miei genitori Ann e Gary, dai super disponibili coach e dalle divertenti compagne di squadra. Che dire, non avrei potuto fare una scelta migliore!

Tennis Banquet: it is a strong emotion to see again all the teammates and coaches! It was a great season, I learned a new sport, which I'll surely try to improve, and I am grateful to have had such a good support from my parents Ann and Gary, the super available coaches and the fun of teammates. What can I say, I could not have made a better choice!

E poi celebriamo questa fine della stagione di tennis con un buonissimo gelato, nella "casetta rossa" dove andavamo molto spesso all'inizio dell'anno, dopo cena. Qualcuno ricorda? E' un bellissimo regalo!!!

And then we celebrate this end of the tennis season with a delicious ice cream, in the "red house" where we went very often at the beginning of the year, after dinner. Does anyone remember? It is a beautiful gift!!!

Oggi è un giorno particolare.
Oggi ho finito tutti gli esami finali (quello di oggi, AP calculus, mi spaventava tanto che ho dormito poco stanotte).
Oggi la scuola è finita per me. Varcare la porta d'uscita alle 3 del pomeriggio, ha suscitato emozioni forti, e mi ha fatta tornare indietro nel tempo: 10 mesi fa entravo per la prima volta nella Thompson Valley High School, spaventata di perdermi fra i corridoi e curiosa di conoscere compagni e professori.
Oggi posso dire di essere stata fortunata, perchè ho fatto molti più amici di quanto potessi mai immaginare, e ho avuto insegnanti che hanno saputo inspirarmi.
Tutto il giorno, però, ho avuto questa immagine stampata in testa, e ho pensato di condividerla con voi: è preziosa per me!

Today it is a particular day.
Today I finished all the final exams (the one I took today, AP calculus, scared me so much that I hardly slept last night).
Today the school is over for me.
Crossing the exit door at 3 in the afternoon has aroused strong emotions in me, and made me go back in time 10 months ago, when I entered in the Thompson Valley High School for the first time, scared of getting lost in the hallways and curious to meet the classmates and teachers.
Today I can say I was lucky, because I have made a lot more friends than I could ever imagine, and I had teachers who knew how to inspire me.
All day, though, I had this image printed in my head, and I thought of sharing it with you: is precious to me!

Dopo scuola, vado a fare una passeggiata/corsa con Ann, per poi prenderci un Frappuccino e tornare a casa nel pomeriggio.

Alla sera sono molto stanca, e mi faccio un regalo molto grande: mi guardo una puntata di Grey's Anatomy in religioso silenzio.

Mi sento libera e felice!!

After school, I go for a walk/run with Ann, and then take a Frappuccino and go home in the afternoon.

In the evening I am very tired, and I give myself a very big gift: I watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy in silence.

Foto che ho scelto per l'evento del mio ritorno in patria. Vorrei che venissero tutte le persone che mi conoscono, per questo ho creato un evento su Facebook, cercando di invitare tutti e non dimenticare nessuno.
Se però qualcuno nè è rimasto fuori, per mia colpa, perchè magari non ha un profilo Facecbook o per qualsiasi altro motivo, ma state leggendo il blog (cosa che mi fa tanto piacere e mi fa sentire piena!!), siete caldamente invitati a partecipare!

Il 30 maggio farò ritorno a casa, dopo 10 mesi di bella vita nel Paese dei Balocchi.

Ho pensato di organizzare un rinfresco nel tardo pomeriggio, aperto a chiunque volesse salutami dopo tanto tempo.

Americans, I'm not gonna translate this, because it's about my Italian reunion on the 30th of May in Milan, and I sadly know that nobody will be able to make it out there... This is just the picture I chose for the event!

Oggi è il lunedì della mia ultima settimana completa a scuola: in ogni classe, dovrò sostenere un esame cumulativo con gli argomenti di tutto il semestre, ma poi avrò circa due settimane di tempo libero, da trascorrere con amici e in famiglia, esplorando posti non ancora visti nel Colorful Colorado e, tempo permettendo, passando le giornate all'aperto, magari facendo un picnic o sdraiandomi sul prato a leggere e prendere il sole. Lo so, sono fortunata e non ho fatto nulla per meritarmi tutto questo, però vivo con la filosofia del: "goditelo finchè puoi!".

Today is Monday of my last full week at school: in every class, I have to take a cumulative final exam, but then I will have about two weeks of free time to spend with friends and family, exploring places that I haven't seen yet in Colorful Colorado and, weather permitting, spending the days outdoors, perhaps taking a picnic or laying down on the grass reading and sunbathing. I know I'm lucky and I have done nothing to deserve all this, however, I live with the philosophy of "enjoy it while you can!".

Torno a casa camminando, e mi viene da ridere quando inizia a piovere: c'è stato il sole per tutto il giorno, ma mi becco l'unica mezz'ora di pioggia della giornata, mentre cammino ascoltando la musica e tenendo sulle spalle lo zaino.
 Ma non è finita qui: tempo dieci minuti che sono a casa, il sole spunta di nuovo ed appare una arcobaleno in cielo.

I go home walking, and I have to laugh when it starts to rain: it was sunny all day, but I get the only half hour of rain of the day, as I walk while listening to music and bearing my backpack on my shoulders.
But there's more: after ten minutes that I'm at home, the sun comes out again and a rainbow apperars in the sky.

Cena e libro per la patente all'aperto.
Poi Barbara mi sorprende, chiedendomi in italiano leggendo dal suo cellulare: "Vuoi andare a fare una passeggiata?" Ma certo! Usciamo in pigiama e infradito, ma a chi importa? Il sole ancora splende e noi siamo spensierate!!

Dinner and book for the driving license, outside.
Then Barbara surprises me, asking me in Italian, reading from her cellphone: "Do you want to go for a walk?" Of course! We go out in pajamas and flip flops, but who cares? The sun still shines and we are carefree!!

Poi iniziamo a ballare in terrazza, con molto poco senso del ritmo, ma tanto, tanto divertimento: questi sono ricordi che terrò per sempre!
Then we start dancing on the porch, with a very little sense of rhythm, but lots, lots of fun: these are memories that I'll keep forever!

Quando fuori inizia a far freddo, rientriamo, e io guardo The Voice alla televisione, ascoltando delle belle canzoni (la finale si avvicina e la gara si fa più competitiva ed interessante)!

When it starts getting colder outside, we come back in, and I watch The Voice on the tv, listening to some very good songs (the finale is approaching and the race becomes more competitive and interesting)!

Apro la porta della camera alle 6 e mezza della mattina, ed è con immensa gioia che vedo il sole entrare dalle finestre della sala ed illuminare le scale. Finalmente primavera, ora si che posso gridare: è maggio e si vede!

Quindi, mi preparo, e infilo nello zaino i vestiti da corsa: niente scuse oggi, con una giornata così si va a correre a gambe levate! Torno anche a casa camminando, e piego male la gamba su un sasso, vedendo le stelle e finendo la passeggiata con dolore. Ma va bene così, e sapete perchè? Stasera cucino io!

Poi faccio Skype con Beppe, dopo tanto tempo che non lo vedevo, e vado a nanna presto, pronta per un'altra bella giornata!

I open the door of my room at 6.30 in the morning, and it is with immense joy that I see the sun coming through the windows of the front room and illuminate the stairs. Dear spring, I can finally yell that it's May and we can see it!

So, I get ready, and I put workout clothes in the backpack: no excuses today, with a day like this, I have to run! I also get back at home walking, and I wrongly bend my leg on a rock, seeing the stars and ending the walk with pain. But that's okay, and you know why? Tonight I'm cooking!

Then I Skype with Beppe, after a long time without seeing him, and I go to bed early, ready for another beautiful day!

Ieri abbiamo anche avuto l'ultimo incontro con gli Exchange Students di Aspect: ecco i certificati ricevuti!
La fine è tristemente vicina, ma non troppo: amerò questo ultimo mese come nient'altro al mondo!!
Yesterday, we also had the last meeting with the Aspect Exchange Students: here are the certificates we received!
The end is sadly close, but not too much: I'll love this last month like nothing else in the world!!

Ann mi racconta anche di una notizia che ha sentito oggi alla televisione: una donna ha fatto causa a Starbucks, perchè i baristi riempiono più di metà dei bicchieri con ghiaccio al posto della bevanda per la quale si paga.

Qui in famiglia, abbiamo sempre aggirato il problema, chiedendo per il drink senza ghiaccio e aggiungendolo a casa, ma apparentemente non è proprio giusto che il cliente sia obbligato a far così. Date un occhiata all'articolo se avete tempo da perdere!

Ann also told me a story that she heard today on the tv news: a woman has sued Starbucks, because the baristas fill more than half the cups with ice instead of the actual drink for which you pay.

Here in this family, we have always worked around the problem by asking for the drink without ice and adding it at home, but apparently it's not really fair that the customer is obliged to do so.

Piccola (grande per me) soddisfazione della giornata: mio fratello che passa tutto il pomeriggio ad urlare per la casa "Chiara Muzio" e che dice a mia mamma che gli manco e che è ora che io torni.

In realtà io non voglio tornare, però un salto a casa lo farei volentieri, solo per saltare addosso a questo fratellone che non vedo da 9 mesi!

Small (big for me) satisfaction of the day: my brother, who spends all afternoon yelling around the house "Chiara Muzio" and telling my mom that he misses me and that it's time for me to come home.

Actually, I don't want to go back, but I would gladly swing by home, just to jump on this big brother that I haven't seen in nine months!

Se il buongiorno si vede dal mattino, oggi è proprio un bel giorno: mi sveglio, faccio colazione, e vado a correre verso Starbucks, dove mi fermo per 3 ore godendomi la vita. Poi torno indietro sulla stessa strada, questa volta però camminando!
You can tell how something will go by how it begins, and today is really a good day: I wake up, have breakfast, and go running towards Starbucks, where I stop for 3 hours enjoying life. Then I come back on the same way, this time walking instead!

E invece della solita mocha, oggi mi prendo un pranzetto sfizioso - insalata, pollo e quinoa - e mangio all'aperto, su questo tavolo in legno che mi piace tantissimo!
And instead of the usual mocha, today I buy myself a fanciful lunch - salad, chicken and quinoa - and eat outdoors, on this wooden table that I love!

Ricevo il pacchetto dalla mia famiglia, per il giorno in cui diventerò adulta: -15!
I receive the package from my family, for the day when I'll become an adult: -15!

Partita di tennis nel pomeriggio: quando arrivo al campo, dopo essermi riscaldata, il coach viene e mi chiede se mi va bene giocare da sola (invece che in coppia). Accetto, ma inizio subito ad avere paura, perchè non ho mai giocato da sola e tutte le altre ragazze della squadra giocano in coppia. Vado da Ann in cerca di supporto, ed è proprio quello che trovo, così entro in campo e gioco. E' stato molto intenso emotivamente, ma mi sono divertita, e... ho vinto, inaspettatamente! Che bello stare all'aperto e giocare a tennis, quando c'è il sole e 20 gradi!!
Tennis game in the afternoon: when I arrive at the camp, after I warm up, the coach comes and asks me if I want to play singles (rather than couples). I accept, but I start to get scared right away, because I've never played alone, and all the other girls of the team play couples. I go to Ann in search of support, and that's what I find, so I go into the field and play. It was very emotionally intense, but I enjoyed it, and ... I won, unexpectedly! How nice it is to be outdoors and play tennis, when it's sunny and it's 70 degrees!!

Per cena, Gary prepara una buonissima carne, e Will ci insegna a giocare ad una nuova versione di poker. Poi, Ann ed io guardiamo un episodio di Heart Beat, e i prepariamo per andare a nanna!

For dinner, Gary prepares a delicious meat, and Will teaches us to play a new version of poker. The, Ann and I watch an episode of Heart Beat, and we start to get to bed!

Prima cosa che faccio la mattina è impastare la focaccia.
The first thing I do in the morning is making the dough for focaccia (kind of flat bread).

 Poi, mentre lievita, vado a correre per 5km, e poi torno indietro camminando, concludendo una bella mattinata all'aria aperta.Then, while it's rising, I go running for a 5k and then I come back home walking. concluding a nice morning ijn the fresh air.

Mentre la focaccia cuoce, pereparo le cipolle che stenderò su metà della superficie.
While focaccia is cooking, I prepare the onions that I'll lay on half of the surface.

E per quanto possa voler bene alla mia famiglia Americana, non posso e non voglio dimenticare di avere una famiglia a Milano, che mi vuole tanto bene e che io amo più di ogni altra cosa al mondo. E' importante per me salutarvi in questo giorno di festa, e vedervi così contenti del vostro pranzo dal nonno e zii.

Ps. E messaggio anche con la mia sorellina pesciolino, che è via con la squadra di nuoto: che donna!!

And no matter how much I love my American family, I can not and don't want to forget I have a family in Milan, who loves me so much and whom I love more than anything else in the world. It is important for me to see you on this festive day, and seeing you so happy with about your lunch at grandpa and uncle's.

Le lasagne sono fuori dal forno e il profumino è buonissimo: buon lavoro!

Iniziamo a manngiare? Sì, tutto è pronto e la fame non manca!
Should we start eating? Yes, everything is ready and there's not lack of hunger!

Cotolette: mentre friggo mi schizzo di olio e burro bollente, e uso due padelle per fare più veloce (preparo circa 30 cotolette) e, quando finisco, puzzo di trattoria: i miei vestiti hanno assorbito qualsiasi odore nell'aria, ma almeno il pollo è cotto bene e me ne accorgo quando vedo che Gary si infiltra in cucina per rubarne dei pezzetti, ancora prima che la cena sia iniziata!!

Cutlets: while I'm frying, boiling oil and butter splashes on me, and I use two pans to make it faster (I prepare about 30 cutlets), and when I finish, I stink like a trattoria: my clothes have absorbed any odor in the air, but at least the chicken is well cooked and I realize it when I see that Gary infiltrates into the kitchen to steal some pieces, even before dinner has begun!!

Dopo cena, vado a fare una passeggiata con Justin, e giochiamo a lanciarci addosso la neve con queste racchette. In questo modo, il coniglio pasquale ha la possibilità di entrare nel giardino e spargere le uova attorno alla casa senza che nessuno lo veda!

After dinner, I go for a walk with Justin, and we play to throw snow at each other with these rackets. In this way, the Easter bunny has the chance to enter the garden and scatter the eggs around the house without anyone seeing him!

Una Chiara che torna bambina, e prende la gara seriamente, cercando di trovare più uova possibile. Mi vergogno un po', ma mi sono divertita proprio tanto!
A Chiara who returns a child, and takes the race seriously, trying to find as many eggs as possible. I am a little ashamed, but I enjoyed it so much!

Poi mangiamo il tiramisu, ed Ann mi dice che è il migliore che abbia fatto finora (sono così contenta!), mentre Shane si mangia una fetta gigante e se ne porta a casa altrettanto. Diciamo pure che è stato un successo. Dopodichè, Briana, Shane e Justin vanno a casa, mentre noi rimaniamo a casa, e tutti sono così pieni che si addormentano sul divano mentre guardano il campionato di basket delle squadre dei college. Io nel frattempo scrivo il blog, perchè prevedo di essere troppo stanca stasera per raccontarvi tutto!

Aggiungo solo che, alla fine di questo stimolante weekend in cucina, sono grata ad Ann e Gary per avermi dato la possibilità di dar sfogo alla mia creatività e avermi dato così tanta soddisfazione oggi. Queste due giornate sono un ricordo che mi porterò con me per sempre, ne sono sicura!

Then we eat tiramisu, and Ann tells me that it's the best I've done so far (I'm so happy!), while Shane eats a giant slice and brings home quite a big piece as well. Let's just say it was a success. Then, Briana, Shane and Justin go home, while we remain at home, and everyone is so full that they fall asleep on the couch while watching the NCAA. In the meantime, I am writing the blog, because I plan to be too tired tonight to tell you everything!

I add only that, at the end of this stimulating weekend in the kitchen, I am grateful to Ann and Gary for giving me the opportunity to give vent to my creativity and for giving me so much satisfaction today. These two days are a memory that I will carry with me forever, I'm sure!

Buongiorno mondo, è venerdì e sono molto molto contenta, perchè domani e domenica cucinerò tutto il giorno e non vedo l'ora!!
Good morning world, it's Friday and I'm very very happy, because tomorrow and Sunday I get to cook all the day, and I can't wait for it!!

Ho aspettato il risultato di questo test per settimane, perchè era molto più difficile del solito e avevo paura di aver fatto troppi errori. Quando però il prof mette i voti sul registro, e vedo il 100%, rimango stupita, contenta e la giornata prende una piega ancora migliore. Che bello!!
I have waited for this result for weeks because this test was much harder than usual and I was afraid of having made too many mistakes. However, when the teachers enters the grades in the gradebook, and I see my 100%, I am taken surprise, I am happy and the day becomes even better. Hurray!! 

Skype per una mezz'oretta con i miei genitori, e poi per più di un'ora con il mio fratellone. Ho la famiglia più bella del mondo, punto.
Skype for a half hour with my parents, and then for more than a hour with my big brother. I have the best family in the entire world, that's all.

Il mio programma è di tornare a casa a piedi, a bordo della strada (circa un'ora a buon passo), e quando Ann mi sorprende da Starbucks, mi tenta, chiedendomi se voglio tornare con lei in macchina. Per quanto allettante, decido di non accettare, e inizio a camminare, con guanti, cappellino e sciarpa, e cantando a squarciagola (dalla macchina nessuno mi può sentire!!) mentre marcio verso casa.
Che bell'idea, sono proprio contenta di aver trovato la forza ed essere andata!!

My plan is to go home on foot, on the edge of the road (about an hourwalking at a good pace), and when Ann surprises me at Starbucks, she tempts me, asking me if I want to go home by car with her. Despite the temptation, I decide not to accept, and I start walking, wearing gloves, hat and scarf, and singing out loud (no one can hear me from their car!!) while marching home.
What a beautiful idea, I'm really glad I found the strength and did this!!

Per cena, frullato di frutta e verdura e poi Grey's Anatomy. Poi vado a farmi due passi nel vicinato, mentre chiamo la Vale. Ora la giornata è ufficialmente completa e posso andare a dormire, aspettando con ansia domani. Buona notte!!

For dinner, fruit and vegetable shake and then Grey's Anatomy. Then I go walking in the neighborhood, while I call Vale. Now the day is officially complete and I can go to bed, waiting for tomorrow. Good night!!
