GIORNO 278

DAY 278

In mattinata faccio Skype con la family: mi diverto a ridere col mio fratellone, mi aggiorno e faccio programmi con la mia sorellina, vedo un papà salterellare nell'orto, e mi emoziono con la mia mamma.

Ora sono pronta per iniziare la giornata.

Aiuto Briana a pulire la casa da ieri sera (d'altra parte ho contribuito anche io a creare il "casino"!), poi andiamo a fare shopping all'Orchard Mall per un paio d'ore. Quando arriviamo a casa, ci aspetta una festa organizzata da Ann e Gary, alla quale partecipano tutte le belle persone che abbiamo incontrato nell'arco dell'anno.  Ecco alcune foto rubate a questi attimi di pura felicità:

In the morning I Skype with my family: I love to laugh with my big brother, and I update and make plans with my little sister, I see a jumping dad in the garden, and I feel strong emotions with my mom.

Now I'm ready to start the day.

I help Briana cleaning the house from last night (on the other hand, I have also contributed to create the mess!), then we go to the Orchard Shopping Mall for a couple of hours.

When we get home, we will have a party organized by Ann and Gary, where all the nice people we met during the year join us. Here are some photos stolen from these moments of pure joy:

Ci comprano la miglior torta di sempre: cheesecake classica con fragole. Oggi lo strappo alla regola era d'obbligo, ho ancora l'acquolina in bocca!!!
They buy us the best cake ever: classic cheesecake with strawberries. Today the exception to the rule was a must, I still have my mouth watering!!!

Non ho parole. Sapevo di essere stata fortunata a finire con Ann e Gary, ma oggi si sono confermati per l'ennesima volta. Grazie per tutto quello che fate costantemente per me, siete voi la ragione per cui tutto questo è possibile e non vi sarò mai abbastanza grata. Vi voglio bene, siete la mia famiglia, cosa a cui tengo più di ogni altra al mondo.

I have no words. I knew I was lucky to end up with Ann and Gary, but today they confirmed themselves for the umpteenth time. Thank you for all you do for me constantly, you're the reason why all this is possible and I will never be grateful enough. I love you, you are my family, what I care more than anything in the world.

DAY 272

Foto che ho scelto per l'evento del mio ritorno in patria. Vorrei che venissero tutte le persone che mi conoscono, per questo ho creato un evento su Facebook, cercando di invitare tutti e non dimenticare nessuno.
Se però qualcuno nè è rimasto fuori, per mia colpa, perchè magari non ha un profilo Facecbook o per qualsiasi altro motivo, ma state leggendo il blog (cosa che mi fa tanto piacere e mi fa sentire piena!!), siete caldamente invitati a partecipare!
Ecco la descrizione che ho messo insieme:


"Cari amici,

Il 30 maggio farò ritorno a casa, dopo 10 mesi di bella vita nel Paese dei Balocchi.

Ho pensato di organizzare un rinfresco nel tardo pomeriggio, aperto a chiunque volesse salutami dopo tanto tempo.
Ci saranno snack e bibite, ma siete più che benvenuti a contribuire con qualsiasi delizia che pensate possa essere mancata alla sottoscritta - sopravvissuta a colpi di Fast Food e Starbucks!

Non vedo l'ora di rivedervi tutti tutti!!
Nel frattempo vi mando un bacio grande e un abbraccio forte.

Americans, I'm not gonna translate this, because it's about my Italian reunion on the 30th of May in Milan, and I sadly know that nobody will be able to make it out there... This is just the picture I chose for the event!

Oggi è il lunedì della mia ultima settimana completa a scuola: in ogni classe, dovrò sostenere un esame cumulativo con gli argomenti di tutto il semestre, ma poi avrò circa due settimane di tempo libero, da trascorrere con amici e in famiglia, esplorando posti non ancora visti nel Colorful Colorado e, tempo permettendo, passando le giornate all'aperto, magari facendo un picnic o sdraiandomi sul prato a leggere e prendere il sole. Lo so, sono fortunata e non ho fatto nulla per meritarmi tutto questo, però vivo con la filosofia del: "goditelo finchè puoi!".

Today is Monday of my last full week at school: in every class, I have to take a cumulative final exam, but then I will have about two weeks of free time to spend with friends and family, exploring places that I haven't seen yet in Colorful Colorado and, weather permitting, spending the days outdoors, perhaps taking a picnic or laying down on the grass reading and sunbathing. I know I'm lucky and I have done nothing to deserve all this, however, I live with the philosophy of "enjoy it while you can!".

Torno a casa camminando, e mi viene da ridere quando inizia a piovere: c'è stato il sole per tutto il giorno, ma mi becco l'unica mezz'ora di pioggia della giornata, mentre cammino ascoltando la musica e tenendo sulle spalle lo zaino.
 Ma non è finita qui: tempo dieci minuti che sono a casa, il sole spunta di nuovo ed appare una arcobaleno in cielo.

I go home walking, and I have to laugh when it starts to rain: it was sunny all day, but I get the only half hour of rain of the day, as I walk while listening to music and bearing my backpack on my shoulders.
But there's more: after ten minutes that I'm at home, the sun comes out again and a rainbow apperars in the sky.

Cena e libro per la patente all'aperto.
Poi Barbara mi sorprende, chiedendomi in italiano leggendo dal suo cellulare: "Vuoi andare a fare una passeggiata?" Ma certo! Usciamo in pigiama e infradito, ma a chi importa? Il sole ancora splende e noi siamo spensierate!!

Dinner and book for the driving license, outside.
Then Barbara surprises me, asking me in Italian, reading from her cellphone: "Do you want to go for a walk?" Of course! We go out in pajamas and flip flops, but who cares? The sun still shines and we are carefree!!

Poi iniziamo a ballare in terrazza, con molto poco senso del ritmo, ma tanto, tanto divertimento: questi sono ricordi che terrò per sempre!
Then we start dancing on the porch, with a very little sense of rhythm, but lots, lots of fun: these are memories that I'll keep forever!

Quando fuori inizia a far freddo, rientriamo, e io guardo The Voice alla televisione, ascoltando delle belle canzoni (la finale si avvicina e la gara si fa più competitiva ed interessante)!

When it starts getting colder outside, we come back in, and I watch The Voice on the tv, listening to some very good songs (the finale is approaching and the race becomes more competitive and interesting)!

Day145

DAY 145

Festa di compleanno per Elora: Cindy, la mamma di Shayne, ha organizzato tutto perfettamente. Abbiamo mangiato pizza per pranzo, giocato al gioco dei mimi, spento le candeline sopra una torta di gelato (che non ho mangiato perchè, uno dei miei obiettivi per l'anno nuovo, è quello di evitare i dolci, ma che sembra molto buona), bevuto un caffè alle nocciole (molto buono), e chiacchierato.
Birthday party for Elora: Cindy, Shayne's mother, organized everything perfectly. We ate pizza for lunch, played the game of mimes, blow out the candles on an ice cream cake (which I did not eat because one of my goals for the new year is to avoid sweets, but it looked very good) , drank coffee with hazelnut cream (very good), and chatted.

Nel tardo pomeriggio andiamo a correre: oggi 2 miglia (circa 3 km), di corsa alternata a camminata. Gary viene con noi, e Ann porta il cellulare, con il quale mappa il percorso e riproduce un po' di musica (facendomi ridere come una matta quando si mette a ballare una canzone che troveremmo in discoteca)!!!

In the late afternoon, we go running: today we do 2 miles (approximately 3 km), alternating run and walk. Gary comes with us, and Ann brings the phone, with which she maps the path and plays some music (making me laugh so much when she starts to dance a disco-type song)!!!

La nostra cena (più due uova): frullato di arance, banana, pere e mele. E' impressionante vedere come funzioni questa macchina, mi incanto ogni volta...
Our dinner (plus two eggs): smoothie with oranges, bananas, pears and apples. It's amazing to see how this machine works, I'm fascinated all the time..

Day32

GIORNO 32

Ieri sera mi sono addormentata con il sorriso: ho fatto Skype con Giuseppe (Beppe Beppino) per più di 1 ora ed è stata l'ora più bella della giornata! Parliamo davvero di tutto e quasi non riesco a smettere di ridere per le cose che ci raccontiamo!
GRAZIE Beppe, sei il più grande amico che ho e tengo un sacco a te!!!!
Poi questa mattina Skype con la mia family: inutile è dire che mi danno la carica per la giornata.
Nel pomeriggio andiamo a fare shopping (trovo un paio di jeans neri da Forever21) e poi andiamo a vedere mission impossible con Nanna e Maddalena, exchange student da Torino. Sono davvero fortunata ad essere nel tuo stesso gruppo di exchange, parlare con te mi piace in sacco e mi diverte!!!
Poi la nostra coordinatrice ci viene a prendere e ci porta a casa dei genitori di Shane (il marito di Brian, figlia di Ann e Gary) per il compleanno di Shane e suo papà. Mangiamo lì e ci divertiamo a chiacchierare e a vederli aprire i regali!

DAY 32

Last night I fell asleep with a huge smile: I had Skype with Giuseppe (Beppe Beppino) for more than one hour and it was the best end I could ask for the day! We talk about pretty much everything and I could hardly stop laughing for the things we told each other!
THANK YOU Beppe, you're the greatest friend I have and I care a lot about you!!!!
Then this morning I Skype with my family: you can take it for granted that they make my day better.
In the afternoon we go shopping (I find a pair of black jeans from Forever21) and then we go to the movie to see mission impossible with Nanna and Maddalena, an exchange student from Turin (Italy). I'm really lucky to be in her same exchange group, I like talking to her a lot!!!
Then our coordinator to takes us and leads us to Shane's parents' house (Shane is Briana's husband, and Briana is Ann and Gary's daughter) Shane and his dad's birthday. We have dinner there and we love talking and seeing them opening the presents!

Day19

GIORNO 19

Questa mattina faccio un lungo Skype con la mia famiglia: non vedevo l'ora e appena ci vediamo iniziamo a parlare di tutto quello che è capitato durante la settimana. 

Il momento più tenero è con la mia sorellina: mi manchi tanto Franci, ma dobbiamo essere forti e orgogliose del rapporto che abbiamo, perchè niente, nemmeno l'Oceano, può spezzare il legame che ci tiene così unite. Ti voglio un bene dell'anima.

Alle 10.15 usciamo di casa per andare verso Denver, dove ci incontriamo per la prima volta con tutti gli exchange students del gruppo: è davvero bello poter scambiare opinioni con loro, che stanno vivendo esattamente la stessa esperienza. Per la prima volta da quando sono qui ho l'opportunità di parlare in italiano con Maddalena, una ragazza di Torino davvero davvero simpatica che spero di rivedere presto! Dopodichè conosco altre due ragazze norvegesi altrettanto carine con le quali faccio un bagno in piscina e prendo il sole.

Verso le 3 andiamo via, questa volta verso la casa di Justin: c'è la sua festa di compleanno. Spizzichiamo qualche "finger food" e poi Justin mi porta di sopra per insegnarmi a giocare a Call of Duty: sinceramente, non ho capito molto di questo gioco (è la primissima volta che uso l'x-box), ma posso assicurare che con lui ci si diverte ed è un ottimo maestro!

Prima di andare via regalano sia a Barbara che a me una specie di pistola giocattolo e Justin mi dà Call of Duty dicendomi di esercitarmi a casa e di non farlo vedere ad Ann!

Sulla via di ritorno ci fermiamo per un hamburger (ne prendiamo soltanto uno e lo facciamo dividere) e poi finalmente torniamo a casa dopo questa lunga, bella giornata.

DAY 19

This morning I Skype my family: I was looking forward to it and when we saw we just started to talk about everything that happened during the week.

The most tender moment is with my sister: I miss you so Franci, but we have to be strong and proud of our relationship, because nothing, not even the ocean, can break the tight bond that holds us together. I love you from the bottom of my heart.

At 10.15 we leave the house to go to Denver, where we meet with all the exchange students in our group  for the first time: it's really nice to be able to talk with them, since we are doing exactly the same experience. For the first time since I came here I have the opportunity to speak in Italian with Maddalena, a girl of Turin who is really really nice and that I hope to see again! Then I get to know two other nice Norwegian girls: we go into the swimming pool and sunbath.

At around 3 pm we go away, to Justin's house this time: there's his birthday party. We eat some "finger food" and then Justin takes me upstairs to teach me how to play Call of Duty: honestly, I did not understand a lot of this game (it's the very first time I use the x-box), but I can assure that we had fun together and that he is a great teacher!

Before leaving, Barbara and me are given a toy gun and Justin gives me his Call of Duty game, telling me that I have to practice at home and that grandma (Ann) can't see it!

On the way back we stop for a burger (we buy just one and divide it) and then finally go home after this long, beautiful day.
