Day37

GIORNO 37

Questa mattina facciamo la simulazione dell'ACT (test tipo invalsi, composto da English, Math, Science e Reading, per entrare nei college Americani) e, soprattutto la parte di comprensione del testo, è molto difficile.

In pausa pranzo Barbara ed io andiamo da Wendy's e mangiamo esattamente le stesse cose di settimana scorsa: hamburger e patatine lei, chilli e insalata io. 

Poi andiamo da Starbucks e facciamo la "carta-fedeltà": funziona come una carta di credito e ad ogni acquisto si accumulano punti che poi si trasformano in bevande gratuite ogni tot. 

Nel pomeriggio cross country: oggi ripetiamo 6 volte 600 m su pista.

Dopodichè spaghetti dinner, andata e ritorno con Sam, un ragazzo della mia età che, potendo già guidare, mi offre un passaggio!! 

Serata tranquilla a casa con la famiglia, guardando un po' di televisione e chiacchierando.

DAY 37

This morning we do the practice ACT and, it's quite difficult, especially the reading part.

During lunch break, Barbara and I go to Wendy's and eat exactly the same things that we did last week: burgers and fries for her, chili and salad for me. 

Then we go to Starbucks and buy a card: it works like a credit card and you can accumulate points with every purchase (these points will turn into free drinks sometime!).

In the afternoon cross country: today we repeat 6 times 600 m of track.

Then we go to the spaghetti dinner with Sam, a very nice boy of my age who could already drive and who offers me a ride!!

Quiet evening at home with the family, looking a bit 'of television and chatting.

Day30

GIORNO 30

Oggi andiamo a scuola con Dustin, il nostro vicino di casa, poi per pranzo vado a mangiare con Barbara da Wendys -- uno dei posti preferiti di mio fratello, quindi deve essere orgoglioso di me! Il tutto seguito da un buonissimo caffè mocha da Starbucks.
Poi cross Country e Spaghetti dinner.
Quando torno a casa abbiamo ospiti, studio per il test di calculus e di storia americana che avrò domani e poi vado a dormire!

DAY 30

Today we go to school with Dustin, our neighbor, then Barbara and me have lunch together at Wendys -- one of my brother's favourite place, so he has to be proud of me! We finish with a delicious mocha at Starbucks.
Then Cross Country and Spaghetti dinner.
When I come back home we have guests, I study for the calculus and American History test that I'll have tomorrow and then I go to bed!

Gary ha completato un puzzle e sul retro ho trovato una foto di un altro puzzle disponibile: sono le Odle, le montagne nelle Dolomiti dove vado ogni estate con la mia famiglia sin da quando ero piccola!!
Gary completed a puzzle and I found a picture on the back: these are the Odle, the mountains in the Dolomite where I go with my family every summer since I was born!

Day 23

GIORNO 23

Oggi è una giornata divertente: vado a scuola e in prima ora ho un test di vocabulary di inglese (10 parole con significato), un pre test di analisi del testo (non verremo valutati perchè la prof non ci ha ancora insegnato come svolgere questo tipo di traccia, ma vuole vedere a che livello siamo), poi durante calculus mi rilasso perchè il prof dice che dobbiamo fare i compiti che ci aveva consegnato la scorsa lezione (ma io, pensando fossero per oggi, li avevo già fatti...), poi pranzo con pasta al pesto (l'ho cucinata ieri sera prima di andare a letto, sia per Barbara che per me) e periodo buco: Barbara ed io facciamo qualche compito in biblioteca e poi andiamo a piedi a Starbucks (circa 10 min -- prendo una Moka piccola, che è caffè+cioccolato, mhmhmhhm che buona!!!). Io inizio a fare la scema e Barbara continua a ridere, ad un certo punto mi chiede di fermarmi perchè le fa male la pancia!!!
Barbara, ti devo dire un segreto: "No because, I promise you, I really love you".
Ok forse è meglio che mi spieghi: ci siamo accorte entrambe che ci sono parole/frasi in inglese che ripetiamo troppe volte durante la giornata ("No because" per me e "really" e "I promise you" per lei)e quindi ci siamo promesse di segnalarcele a vicenda, ma ogni volta che una delle due, senza pensarci, le inserisce nelle frasi, scoppiamo a ridere!
Dopodichè anatomia: domani altro test, questa volta molte più parole da studiare ma... ce la devo fare, stay strong!
Cross Country sotto la pioggia (menomale che avevo la maglietta della decathlon che si asciuga subito) e spaghetti night da Ethan. Andiamo in macchina con Maya, ci fermiamo al supermercato e compriamo ognuno qualcosa da portare a casa di Ethan, poi ci dirigiamo verso casa sua ed entriamo nella porta sbagliata (qui non chiudono mai la porta a chiave): è la casa di un'anziana signora che si stupisce di fronte a questa inaspettata interruzione e che ci chiede se vogliamo che organizzi un party. Imbarazzate, le chiediamo scusa ed usciamo, questa volta facendo attenzione a trovare la porta giusta.
Mangiamo spaghetti con polpette e andiamo nel seminterrato, dove giochiamo tutti insieme.
Ann mi viene a prendere: è arrivato il pacco di Amazon (mentre ero agli allenamenti mi aveva mandato un messaggio in cui diceva che la scatola conteneva guanti da sci e calze da uomo -- mi ha fatto uno scherzo e ci è riuscita perchè mi sono spaventata) e appena lo vedo inizio a scartarlo quasi fosse un regalo!
Dopodichè faccio una doccia, studio per il test di Anatomia e vado a dormire, molto molto contenta.

DAY 23

Today it'is an exciting day: I go to school and in the first period I have a vocabulary test (10 English words with their meaning), a pre-test essay (we will not be assessed because the teacher did not taught us how to do this type of test, but she wants to see what's our level), then I relax during calculus because the teacher says that we need to do the homework that he had given us on tuesday (but I thought they were due today, so I had already done them...) , then I have lunch with pasta with pesto (I cooked it last night before going to bed, both for Barbara and me) and I have a period off: Barbara and I do some homework in the library and then we walk to Starbucks (about 10 min on foot -- I buy a small Moka, mhmhmhhm it's so good!!!!). I start to be stupid and Barbara keeps laughing, at one point she even asks me to stop because her stomach hurts!!!
Barbara, I have to tell you a secret: "No because, I promise you, I really love you!"
Well, maybe I'd better explain it: we realized that there are English words / phrases that we both repeat many times during the day ("No, because" for me and "really" and "I promise you" for her); we promised each other to warn the other whenever we say these words, maybe without even thinking about it, so as to correct us, but the truth is that we always start laughing about each other!!!
Then I have anatomy: tomorrow we have another test, this time we have much more words to study ... but I have I'll do that, stay strong!
Cross Country is under the rain (luckily I had a decathlon T-shirt that dries very quickly) and then we go to the spaghetti night at Ethan's. Maya drives us, we stop at the grocery store and buy something to bring to Ethan's, then we head toward his house and enter the wrong door (here they never close their doors): it is elderly lady's house, she's really surprised by this unexpected interruption and she asks us if we want her to throw a party. Embarrassed, we apologize for the mistake and go out, this time making sure to find the right door.
We eat spaghetti with meatballs and go to the basement, where we all play together.
Ann picks me up: my package has arrived from Amazon (while I was practicing Ann had sent me a text saying that the box contained ski gloves and men's socks - she was making a joke but I didn't catch it and I was really afraid -- she won, this time...) and when I see it I start to discard it as if it were a gift!
Then I take a shower, study for the Anatomy test and go to sleep, very very happy.
