Faccio un progetto di decoupage, ma non scrivo di più, perchè è un regalo per un ottimo amico che settimana prossima prenderà il diploma!
I make a decoupage project, but I don't write anything more, because it's a gift for a great friend who will graduate next week!

Preparo i cantucci, di nuovo, questa volta per una coppia di amici di Ann e Gary dai quali siamo ospiti stasera, e la mia councelor di scuola, che mi sta aiutando con tutti i documenti che devo portare a scuola quando torno in Italia!
I prepare biscotti, again, this time for a couple of Ann and Gary's friends (we'll be their guests tonight), and for my councelor, who is helping me with all the documents that I need to bring to school when I go back to Italy!

Mentre siamo in macchina, questo paesaggio mi isola da tutto il resto: scatto la foto dal finestrino, mentre l'auto è in movimento, e non applico effetti, eppure per me è perfetta proprio così com'è. Mi mancheranno questi paesaggi!
While we're driving, this landscape isolates me from everything else: I take the picture from the window while the car is moving, and I do not apply effects, but for me it's perfect just like this. I will miss these landscapes!

Story of a wonderful weekend in the mountains

Si parte: siamo fortunatissimi perchè il tempo è bellissimo, fa freddo ma non troppo, e il sole splende!
Let's go: we're super lucky, because the weather is very nice, it's cold but not too much, and the sun shines!

Porto anche più del necessario...
I bring maybe more than what's necessary...

Sono in macchina con Tina, la mia coordinatrice. Tra le altre cose, sono contenta di averla conosciuta meglio in questi due giorni: è una bella persona, super impegnata con i suoi tre lavori, ma allo stesso tempo dolce e sensibile. Complimenti!
I am in the car with Tina, my coordinator. Among other things, I'm happy to have got to know her better in these two days: she's a beautiful person, super busy with her three jobs, but sweet and sensitive at the same time. Congrats!

Amministrazione e accoglienza: ci vengono assegnate le camere e pranziamo qui, iniziando a conoscerci meglio...

Foto degli interni ed esterni della nostra casetta: siamo divisi in camere per 2, 3, 6 persone ciascuna (io sono nella più grande!) e abbiamo un enorme spazio comune, con tavolate, cucina e salone!
Pics of the inside and outside of our cabin: we're divided into bedrooms for 2, 3, 6 people each (I'm in the biggest one!) and we have a huge common space, with big tables, kitchen and living room!

Il primo gioco a cui partecipiamo è una caccia al tesoro: abbiamo una lista di indizi per trovare 10 oggetti, attrazioni o negozi nel caratteristico paese di Estes Park. Il colore di questo braccialetto indica la squadra alla quale apparteniamo: io sono con Alex, Ana e Ingvild, e la nostra "capa" è Susan. Siamo molto motivati a vincere, anche perchè Susan ci ha detto che la sua squadra non ha mai perso, ma... arriviamo secondi: speriamo di non averla delusa troppo!
P.s. E' stato molto divertente correre per la strada e scoprire aspetti che non avevo mai notato!
The first game in which we take part in is a Scavenger Hunt: we have a list of clues to find 10 objects, attractions or shops in the characteristic town of Estes Park. The color of this bracelet indicates the team to which we belong to: I am with Alex, Ana, and Ingvild, and our "boss" is Susan. We are very motivated to win, also because Susan told us that her team never lost, but... we are just second: let's hope not to have let her down too much!
P.s. It's been so fun running up and down the street and finding out aspects that I never noticed before!

A tutti voi: dovremmo vederci più spesso e passare qualche giornata insieme!

To you all: we should get together more often and spend some days together!

Nel pomeriggio andiamo ad arrampicare e poi in palestra a giocare a basket.

Dopo cena, sono nella squadra che ha il compito di sparecchiare, lavare i piatti e mettere a posto.

During the afternoon, we go indoor climbing and then playing basketball.

After dinner, I'm with the team which is in charge of cleaning up.

Dopo cena, andiamo all'Hotel Stanley, dove è stato girato il film "Shining" e dove partecipiamo ad un tour per le stanze dell'albergo, dove ci dovrebbero essere moltissimi spiriti e fantasmi...
After dinner, we go to the Hotel Sstanley, where the movie "Shining" was filmed and where we take part in a tour around the rooms in the hotel, where there are supposed to be many spirits and ghosts...

Questa la devo raccontare: Maddalena ed io siamo molto scettiche, e non crediamo a niente di quello che la guida ci racconta su fatti avvenuti nell'hotel. Mentre questa ci mostra foto di bambini-fantasma o gatti-fantasma, e ci racconta di persone che hanno scattato fotografie e in queste sono magicamense apparse persone che non erano visibili ad occhio nudo, Maddalena ed io iniziamo ad escogitare un piano per metterla alla prova. Decidiamo di fare una foto ad un comune divano e di modificarla, aggiungendo sfumature di bianco al centro, in modo tale che possa sembrare un fantasma. Una volta conclusa l'opera, mostriamo la foto modificata alla guida, fingendo di credere nella presenza di un fantasma e chiedendo il suo parere. La parte più esilarante è che la guida non solo conferma la presenza del fantasma nella foto, ma ci chiede di mandargliela via email, così che possa mostrarla nei suoi prossimi tour. Il resto del gruppo ci casca, e, mentre tutti sono scioccati dalla scoperta e si guardano attorno come se potessero essere attaccati da un momento all'altro, io racconto a Susan ciò che abbiamo appena fatto, e lei mi batte il cinque, molto divertita.

Well, I have to tell you this: Maddalena and I are very skeptical, and we don't believe in anything that the guide tells us about things that have appened in the hotel. While she shows us pics of children-ghosts or cats-ghosts, and she tells us about people who took pics and people who were not visible with naked eye magically appeared in the pics, Maddalena and I start thinking about a plan to put her to the test. We decide to take a pic of a normal couch and then modify it, adding white shades in the middle, so as to make them seem like a ghost. Once we conclude our masterpiece, we show the modified pic to the guide, pretending to believe in the presence of ghosts and asking for her point of view. The best part comes when she not only confirms that there's actually a ghost in the pic, but she asks us to send it to her vie email, so as to enable her to show it in her next tours. Everyone else in the group believes in our pic, and, while everyone is shocked and is looking around to protect themselves from a potential attack, I tell Susan everything we just did, and she gives me a high five, very amused.

Day6

GIORNO 6

La sveglia è alle6.30 ma mi sveglio mezz'ora prima perché sono agitata: continuo a pensare a Cross Country... 
Mi preparo, faccio colazione (mangio due fette di pane con un po' di caffè e non bevo latte perché ho paura che mi rimanga sullo stomaco durante la corsa) ed esco di casa. Gary mi accompagna a scuola, dove consegnano l'iscrizione è tutti i moduli (vaccinazioni, visita medica ecc.) e poi mi lascia con il coach nel campo dove inizieremo gli allenamenti. La prima impressione è molto molto positiva: tutti sorridono e sembrano amichevoli. Questo presentimento si conferma pochi istanti dopo, quando Emily, una ragazza della squadra, si presenta e mi introduce a tutti gli altri. Sono tutti molto interessati a noi exchange students, e questo facilita la comunicazione perché hanno un alto livello di comprensione e disponibilità. Dopo venti minuti di riscaldamento il coach ci divide in gruppi e iniziamo a correre: io sono insieme ad altre tre ragazze, Laura, Josy e Kathy (spero di aver scritto bene il vostro nome!), con le quali chiacchero per tutti i trenta minuti di corsa. Dopodiché ci riuniamo e, tutti insieme, facciamo esercizi per rafforzare i muscoli (come addominali, squat, flessioni ecc.). Dopo circa un'ora e mezza siamo liberi e possiamo tornare a casa. Prima di salire in macchina scambio due parole con un'altra ragazza molto molto simpatica, Maya, che è al mio stesso anno a scuola (potremmo avere qualche materia in comune!).
Torno a casa, faccio una doccia veloce e riusciamo di nuovo: gita in montagna a Estes Park e al Rocky Mountains National Park. Indossiamo vestiti pesanti perché fa molto freddo in quota e scattiamo moltissime foto a quel panorama che lascia fiato e che ricorda tanto il Gran Canyon.
Mangiamo una pizza margherita (anche se ha poco a che fare con la nostra amata pizza italiana), entriamo in qualche negozio e poi torniamo a casa.
Questa sera cena (chilly chicken) sul divano mentre guardiamo Twilight!

DAY 6

The alarm clock is at 6.30 am but I wake up at 6 as I'm nervous: I keep thinking about Cross Country... 
I get ready, have breakfast (I eat 2 slices of bread and drink some coffee but I avoid milk as I'm afraid for the run) and go to school with Gary. 
He leaves me just where we start our practice: the first impression i very very positive: everyone smiles and seems friendly. Emily, a girl in the team, introduces herself and the other athletes to me: they're all great.
After 20 minutes of warm-up, the coaches divides us into groups and we start to run: I am with other three girls, Laura, Josy and Kathy (I hope I wrote your name in the right way!), and I talk a lot with them while we run. Then we gather and do excercises like sit-ups and push-ups and to strenghten our muscles. After about 1.30 h we are free to go home: while I'm waiting for Gary, I talk to Maya, a very nice girl who is in my same grade (we might have some common classes!).
I come back home, have a quick shower and then we go out again: daily trip to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains National Park. We wear heavy clothes as it's very cold up there. We take a lot of pictures: the landscape is amazing and it reminds me the Grand Canyon.
We eat a pizza margherita (even though it doesn't seem like an Italian pizza at all), we go into some shops and then come home.
Tonight we have dinner on the coach (chilly chicken) while we watch Twilight!
