GIORNO 85

Provo nuoto a scuola, ma è troppo competitivo (2 h e 15 tutti i giorni, nuotando senza mai fermarsi): una delle mie passioni più grandi si trasformerebbe in un incubo, e questa è l'ultima cosa che voglio!

DAY 85

I try swimming at school, but it's too competitive (2 hours and 15 minutes every day, swimming without ever stop): one of my greatest passion would easily turn into a nightmare for me, and this is the least thing I want!

Day76

GIORNO 76

Pubblico qualche foto delle cose che mi sono arrivate da Amazon negli ultimi giorni (forse avete già visto il bicchiere bianco e azzurro, perchè l'ho già usato per una mocha!). 

Per il resto ho ricevuto delle calze pesanti per le rigide temperature che mi attendono nelle rossime settimane/mesi, camomilla da bere prima di andare a letto (è una tradizione della mia mamma e voglio continuarla anche qua, perchè no!) 

-- Fermi un secondo, se mi chiamerete nonna, per questi acquisti, bhe... questa volta non posso biasimarvi! --

e una cover trasparente per il telefono: sembra rigida e resistente, incrociamo le dita!

Gary mi porta in piscina, dove nuoto e conosco un signore abbastanza anziano, che si complimenta per il mio stile (grazie dds!) e inizia a raccontarmi della sua vita e carriera (tra le altre cose, è stato istruttore di nuoto per 37 anni). Questi incontri inaspettati rallegrano e diversificano le giornate, oltre che arricchirle!

Iniziamo la serie "Quantico" e promette davvero bene!

DAY 76

I'll post some pictures of the things that I received from Amazon in these days (perhaps you've already seen the white and blue tumbler, because I've used it for a mocha!). 

By the way, I also received 4 pairs of heavy-thermal socks for the low temperatures that we'll face in the next weeks/months, then chamomile tea to drink before going to bed (it is one of my mom's tradition and I want to continue it even here, why not!) 

-- Stop a second, if you call me grandma, for these purchases, well ... this time I can not blame you! --

and a transparent cover for my iphone: it looks stiff and resistant, let's keep our fingers crossed!

Gary takes me to the pool, where I swim and meet an elderly gentleman, who complimented my swimming style (thanks dds--my swimming pool in Italy where I attended courses since I was about 6 years old!) and begins to tell me about his life and career (among other things, he has been a swimming instructor for 37 years). These unexpected meetings rejoice and diversify the days, as well as enrich them!

We start to watch the series "Quantico" and it seems to be very good!

Day53

GIORNO 53

Inizio la giornata facendo Skype con i miei, mentre Ann e Barbara partono in spedizione per cercare un vestito per l'homecoming (quello con amazon prime non era più disponibile). Torneranno distrutte, come soldati reduci da una battaglia, che perlomeno è stata vinta: hanno trovato un vestito ed è bellissimo, sembra una principessa quando lo indossa!
Io invece, durante la mia giornata relax, vado a correre, faccio una vasca con sali minerali, mi preparo un pranzetto all'italiana (pasta con sughetto di sedano, carote e cipolle), studio, finisco il libro "La solitudine dei numeri primi" (che mi lascia un po' perplessa -- non mi ha entusiasmata troppo, perciò volevo finirlo il più in fretta possibile), faccio Skype con Beppe (!) e preparo la pizza per cena. 
Piccolo problema: non abbiamo salsa di pomodoro in casa, ma, avendo già impastato, procedo comunque, improvvisando una pizza bianca, con rosmarino e mozzarella. E' la prima volta che la mangio e piace molto a tutti!
Dopo cena Ann tira fuori una macchina per fare i popcorn e siamo tutti divertiti nel vedere come funziona: posto un video qui sotto perchè è proprio divertente!
Poi guardiamo il film "The Words", coloro con Justin e andiamo a dormire!

DAY 53

First thing in the morning, I Skuype with my familt, while Ann and Barbara go shopping, looking for an homecoming dress (the one with amazon prime was no longer available). They come back home very tired, as soldiers returning from battle, but they won at least: they found a dress and it's beautiful, Barbara looks like a princess when she wears it!
meanwhile, I go running, take a bath with minerals, prepare an Italian lunch (pasta with celery, carrots and onions), study, finish the book "The Solitude of Prime Numbers" (that leaves me a bit puzzled - I was not really excited, so I wanted to finish it as quickly as possible), I Skype with Beppe (!) and prepare pizza for dinner. 
Small problem: we do not have tomato sauce in the house, but, having already prepared the dough, I proceed anyway, improvising a white pizza with mozzarella and rosemary. It's the first time I eat it and we all like it very much!
After dinner, Ann pulls out a machine to make popcorn and we all want to see how it works: I'll post a video below because it is fun!
Then we watch the film "The Words", color with Justin and go to sleep!

Day51

GIORNO 51

Oggi ho il primo test di calculus: faccio una buona colazione e sono pronta per affrontarlo, carica di energia, e, una volta consegnato, sono contenta di quello che sono riuscita a fare!
Poi, durante anatomia, facciamo un esperimento in cui testiamo la sensibilità della nostra pelle e calcoliamo la quantità di recettori nervosi presenti in punti specifici: è molto interessante e vorrei che l'ora non finisse mai...
Per pranzo Barbara ed io andiamo di nuovo da Wendy's e, di nuovo, mangiamo chili e insalata (io) e menu hamburger (lei)!
Poi facciamo una caccia al tesoro durante l'allenamento di cross country, insieme ai ragazzi della scuola media che l'anno prossimo si iscriveranno al liceo. La nostra squadra non vince, ma riceviamo comunque caramelle "di consolazione".
Poi torno a casa e Barbara è un po' in crisi perchè il vestito per l'homecoming è stato consegnato ma non le piace per niente: non è del colore che si aspettava ed è di una taglia troppo grossa. La aiuto a cercarne un altro, questa volta su Amazon, e troviamo quello giusto, ma la consegna prevista è alla fine di ottobre e noi ne abbiamo bisogno settimana prossima! Mi viene in mente, però, che Ann e Gary hanno Amazon Prime e che possono farci acquistare con il loro account, quindi... ecco trovata la soluzione!
Poi per cena la amata pasta con pesto davanti alla TV: secondo episodio di Grey's Anatomy!!!

DAY 51

Today we have the first calculus test: I have a good breakfast and I'm ready to do the test, full of energy, and, once I've turned that in, I'm satisfied with what I did!
Then, during the
anatomy class, we do an experiment in which we test the sensitivity of our skin and we calculate the amount of nerve receptors present in specific parts of the body: it is very interesting and I wish the class would never end ...
For lunch Barbara and I go back to Wendy's and, again, have chili and salad (me) and burger menu (her)!
Then we do a treasure hunt during the cross country practice, with the middle school kids. Our team does not win, but still receive a "consolation" candy.
Then I come home and Barbara is a bit in crisis because her homecoming dress was delivered and she does not like it at all: it is not the color that she was expecting it to be and is of a too big size. I help her to look for another one, this time on Amazon, and we find the right one, but the delivery is expected in late October and we need it next week! I remind, however, that Ann and Gary have Amazon Prime and that can make us buy with their account, so ... we have found the solution!
Then for dinner we have our lovely pasta with pesto in front of the TV: the second episode of Grey's Anatomy!!!
