Questa mattina, nonostante sia sabato, mi sveglio prestissimo (alle 7) perchè penso al momento in cui farò Skype con la mia famiglia: sono successe così tante cose belle nell'arco della settimana, che non vedo l'ora di raccontarle tutte!! Grazie per il tempo che mi dedicate, è davvero prezioso per me.
Poi Ann ci chiama per salutare Luisa Marie, una ragazza tedesca che è stata exchange student qui, da Ann e Gary, tanti anni fa (ora ha 24 anni e lavora!): è bello sapere di far parte di una famiglia internazionale così grande!
Poi Ann, Barbara ed io usciamo: Ann ci accompagna all'Orchard mall, dove incontreremo Maddalena per fare shopping e mangiare insieme. 
Ok, ora voglio spendere qualche parola su Maddi (questo è il soprannome di Maddalena), per far capire quanto sia un'amica speciale per me: siamo nello stesso gruppo di exchange student e perciò ci siamo conosciute circa un mese fa, al primo incontro con l'associazione e i coordinatori. Ho capito subito che fosse una bella persona ed è per questo che abbiamo deciso di vederci di nuovo. 
Oggi è stata la nostra seconda uscita al di fuori di Aspect, organizzata da noi, e le impressioni sono state confermate e consolidate. Abbiamo scoperto di avere un sacco di cose in comune, come per esempio lo stile sportivo nei vestiti, acquisti di intimo on line molto azzardati, le Superga, le riflessioni intense sul nostro Paese (qui in America stiamo imparando ad apprezzarlo di più, nel complesso), le "fisse", gli obiettivi... Abbiamo anche fatto una scommessa molto interessante, ma ne parlerò soltanto più avanti, quando scopriremo chi riuscirà a vincerla (sperando che sia io!)!! 
Grazie di cuore Maddi per la tua amicizia, sono davvero davvero fortunata ad averti incontrata!!! <3 
Poi andiamo a prenderci un frappuccino Maddalena e un caffè io, compro le scarpe per l'homecoming, un reggiseno sportivo e qualche acquisto da Victoria's Secret. 
Poi torniamo a casa, per un tratto con Briana (chiacchieriamo di cose da donne!) e per un altro con Ann, Gary e Justin, che stanotte dormirà qui da noi.
Ceniamo all'aperto, di fronte ad un caldo fuoco, arrostendo pane e mangiando il pollo che Gary ha preparato per noi! Tutto è davvero buono!!
Sono stanca, perchè la giornata è stata davvero piena, ma un'altra cosa è piena oggi: il mio cuore.

DAY 46

This morning, despite the fact that it's Saturday, I wake up very early (at about 7 am) ​​because I think about doing Skype with my family: so many good things have happened during the week, and I can not wait to tell them all!! Thanks for the time you devote to me, it is really precious to me.
Then Ann calls us to say hi to Louise Marie, a German girl who was an exchange student here, at Ann and Gary's house, many years ago (now she's 24 years old and has a job!): it's amazing to know to be part of such a big international family!
Then Ann, Barbara and I go out: Ann takes us to the Orchard mall, where we will meet Maddalena to shop and eat together.
Ok, now I want to say a few words about Maddi (this is Maddalena's nickname), because she's such a good friend to me: we are in the same exchange students' group and we met about a month ago, at the first meeting with the organization and coordinators. I knew she was a beautiful person from the first moment I got to talk with her, and that's why we decided to see each other again. 
Today we organized to hang out and the first impressions have been confirmed and consolidated. We found we had a lot of things in common, such as sports style clothing, bery hazardous underwear online purchases, Superga (our favorite Italian shoes), the intense reflections about our country (here in America, we are learning to appreciate it more), the whims, the goals... We also made a very interesting bet, but I'll talk about it only later on, when we'll find out who will win it (hoping it'll be me!)!!
Maddi, heartfelt thanks for your friendship, I'm really really lucky to have met you!!! <3 
Afterwards, we go get a frappuccino (Maddalena) and a coffee (me), then I buy shoes for the homecoming, a sports bra and some things at Victoria's Secret.
Then we go home, at first with Briana (we talk a lot!) and then with Ann, Gary and Justin, who will sleep here tonight.
We have dinner outside, with a cosy fireplace, roasting bread and eating the chicken that Gary prepared for us! Everything was so good!

I'm tired, because the day was really full, but another thing is full today: my heart.

Day12

GIORNO 12

Quando mi sveglio accendo il cellulare e mi arrivano i messaggi della mia famiglia: mi avvisano che il mio account di Faceboook è bloccato e che era attivo alle 4 am ora americana (non ero sicuramente io perchè stavo dormendo a quell'ora!). Provo ad entrare, cambiare la password e farmi spedire via mail codici di sicurezza di ogni tipo, ma niente: devo verificare la mia identità. Faccio Skype con i miei e, tralasciando i dettagli, alle 3 del pomeriggio riottengo il mio account. Non che io tenga troppo a Facebook, però mi dà fasstidio pensare che qualcun altro abbia accesso al mio profilo, quindi tirro un sospiro di sollievo quando vedo che riprende a funzionare.
Comunque sia, in mattinata andiamo a fare la spesa con Gary, per comprare il necessario per i nostri pranzi a scuola, poi torniamo a casa, mangiamo (cucino pasta al pesto per me e Barbara mentre Gary si prepara un sandwich) e usciamo di nuovo: dobbiamo comprare ancora qualche materiale scolastico per Barbara, un orologio sportivo per me e delle magliette per Gary. Quando dobbiamo pagare, Gary ci dà un coupon da 10$, così Barbara ed io risparmiamo 5$ a testa sui nostri acquisti!
Ora Gary ci lascia a Centerra, un promenade shop, ovvero un grande mall all'aperto: una vera e propria cittadina di negozi, dove strade, macchine e persone si incrociano in ogni angolo.
Qui incontriamo Katie e Shelby, due ragazze con cui andiamo a mangiare e fare shopping. Barbara compra un paio di Converse simili alle mie Superga (mi piacciono molto!), mentre io provo dei tacchi che però alla fine lascio. 
Torniamo a casa con Shelby (ha la nostra età ma può guidare, perchè qui la patente si può prendere dai 16 anni!) e per cena Gary prepara bistecche di maiale con patate, zucchine, granoturco. Questa sera c'è anche Will con noi. Che bella serata!

DAY 12

When I wake up I turn on my cell-phone and I receive texts from my family: my Facebook account is blocked and someone different from me used it at 4 am. I try to enter but it says that I have to confirm my identity. I ask for help to my family, we Skype and, to make it simple, at 3 pm I got it unblocked. I am happy now: it's not that I care too much about Facebook, but I don't like the idea that someone else can use my profile. 
Anyway, we do the shop with Gary in the morning to buy lunch stuff for the week, then we come home, have lunch (I cook pasta for Barbara and me while Gary eats a sandwich) and we go out again: we have to buy other school supplies for Barbara, a sports watch for me and two t-shirts for Gary. When it comes to pay, Gary gives us a 10$ saving coupon, so Barbara and I save 5$ each!
Now Gary drops us off at Centerra, a promenade shop: it seems like a shopping city, where shops, cars, streets and people cross at every corner. 
We meet Katie and Shelby here and we have lunch together (they haven't eaten yet). Then we go shopping: Barbara finds a pair of Converse similar to my Superga (I like them!), while I try a pair of heels on put then leave them there (they're not my size).
We come back home with Shelby (she drives: here you can get your licence at 16!) and for dinner Gary prepares pork chop, smashed potatoes, zucchini, corn. Tonight Will comes too. What a wonderful night!

Day5

GIORNO 5 

In mattinata Barbara fa Skype con la sua famiglia, Gary cura il giardino e Ann lavora al computer, quindi vado a fare una passeggiata nel vicinato e, per non mettere a dura prova le mie scarse capacità di orientamento, prendo una strada senza curve e la ripercorro 3 o 4 volte.
Dopodichè ci raggiunge Will e andiamo verso Flatirons, quello che qui chiamano mall e che in sostanza è una cittadina per acquisti di ogni genere. Sono un po' disorientata all'inizio perchè i negozi sono enormi e affollati. Ann Mary ci porta in un negozio "Build-a-bear": si sceglie la forma--il tipo di pelle (per esempio orsetti, cani, conigli, gatti...), si registra la propria voce su un piccolo apparecchio elettronico e si riempie la sagoma con piume, scegliendo la consistenza desiderata (più o meno morbido)!
Dopo aver comprato qualche articolo (pantaloni corti e maglietta per Barbara, pantaloni da basket per Will e pantaloni per correre per me), andiamo a mangiare: Barbara e Ann mangiano un'insalata, Gary ed io riso orientale con verdure (a cui lui aggiunge pollo) e Will un grande hamburger.
Torniamo a casa e aiutiamo a preparare la cena, tagliando a rondelle melanzane e tritando cipolle. Abbiamo ospiti stasera: i nostri vicini di casa. 

DAY 5

In the morning Barbara has Skype with her family, Gary takes care of the garden and Ann works on the computer, so I go for a walk in the neighborhood (I retrace the same street four times so that I can't get lost!). 
After that Will shows up and we go to Flatirons, a huge mall where you can find whatever you want. Ann Marie takes us inside a "Build-a-bear" shop and shows us how it works: we don't have any of them in Europe! 
After having bought some items (a pair of shorts and a shirt for Barbara, a pair of basketball shorts for Will and 2 pairs of running shorts for me), we have lunch: Barbara and Ann eat a salad, Gary and I fried rice with vegetables (Gary adds chicken too) and Will a big hamburger.
We come back home and help preparing the dinner: we cut eggplants and onions into pieces. We have hosts tonight: our neighbors.
