Oggi macino 12 km di camminata al mattino, poi aiuto un po' in casa a pulire e preparare il pranzo/cena. Ann mi porta a prendere un caffè in libreria, dove sfogliamo riviste e chiacchieriamo. Facciamo un po' di shopping e poi, quando torniamo a casa, inizio a tradurre la pagella e i programmi svolti prima di riportarli in Italia. Domani andiamo a Colorado Springs, e non vedo l'ora - stasera guardiamo due episodi di Quantico, molto eccitante, e ci rimane solo l'ultimo della stagione, sono curiosissima!

Today I kill 12km of walking in the morning, then help a bit in the house to clean and prepare lunch/dinner. Ann takes me to take a coffee in the bookstore, where we browse magazines and chat. We do some shopping and then, when we get home, I start to translate the transcript and the programs before bringing them back to Italy. Tomorrow we'll go to Colorado Springs, and I can not wait for it - tonight we watch two episodes of Quantico, very exciting, and only the last of the season is left, I'm so curious!

Dopo cena andiamo da Starbucks, e ci sediamo all'aperto, leggendo i post del blog di giorni scelti a caso. Poi, quando stiamo per tornare a casa, ricordo ad Ann che Gary aveva chiesto di portargli una cioccolata calda, così lei torna dentro per ordinarla, e Barbara ed io restiamo in macchina. Ebbene, ad un certo punto Barbara prova ad aprire la portiera per buttare via il bicchiere, e la macchina inizia ad emettere luci abbaglianti accompagnate dal suono si una sirena. Tutti iniziano a guardarci ridendo, e Ann non ci viene in soccorso immediatamente, ma si gode qualche minuto di divertimento alle nostre spalle!

After dinner we go to Starbucks, and sit outdoors, reading the posts of randomly selected days from my blog. Then, when we're heading back home, I remind Ann that Gary had asked her to bring him a hot chocolate, so she goes back inside to order it, and Barbara and I remain in the car. Well, at some point Barbara tries to open the door to throw the cup away, and the machine starts to emit bright lights accompanied by the sound of a siren. They all begin to look at us, laughing, and Ann does not come to the rescue us immediately, but she enjoys a few minutes of making fun of us!

Pizza per il boss di casa: non è la migliore che io abbia fatto qui, perchè in casa non abbiamo il lievito giusto, e ne uso uno a lievitazione istantanea, che però non mantiene la promessa di far lievitare la pasta. Pazienza, spero solo di riuscire a farne "una delle mie" prima di domenica prossima!
Pizza for the house boss: it's not the best I've done here, because we do not have the right yeast at home, and I have to use an instant yeast, but it fails in making the dough rise. Never mind, I just hope to be able to make "one of mine" before next Sunday!

Oggi ho fatto due nuovi record personali: dormire fino alle nove del mattino (ebbene sì, ho la brutta abitudine di svegliarmi presto anche nel weekend), e ho corso per un'ora senza mai fermarmi. Il sorriso stampato sulle labbra è d'obbligo!

Today I broke two new personal records: I slept until nine in the morning (yes, I have the bad habit of waking up early even at weekends), and I ran for an hour without ever stopping. The smile on his lips is a must!

La pagella è pronta e Gary ci porta a ritirarla in mattinata! La councelor ci fa anche un regalo speciale: una lettera molto dolce ed una nappina che viene solitamente attaccata al cappello dei senior che si diplomano. Ann mi dice che è tradizione appenderlo allo specchietto retrovisore in macchina: Teo, dato che siamo andati alla stessa scuola, ti andrebbe bene unirlo alla nostra 107?

The transcript is ready and Gary takes us to take it in the morning! The councelor also makes us a special gift: a very sweet letter and a tassel that is usually attached to the hat of the seniors who graduate. Ann tells me that it is traditional to hang it from the rear-view mirror in the car: Teo, since we went to the same school, would you add it to our 107?

Nell'orto stanno spuntando i primi germogli, ma questo cespuglio i cattura: è un'erba cipollina che emana aroma d'aglio quando strofinata (non l'avevo mai sentita prima d'ora), e i fiori sono una vera esplosione!

In the vegetable garden, the first buds are popping up, but this bush just captures me: it is a chive that gives off garlic aroma when rubbed (I had never heard it before), and the flowers are a real explosion!

L'ultima cena con la famiglia. Ovviamento scherzo, ma è questo il cin cin che facciamo quando ci portano da mangiare. Domani è un giorno molto importante per Gary e gli auguro tutto il meglio!

Faccio un progetto di decoupage, ma non scrivo di più, perchè è un regalo per un ottimo amico che settimana prossima prenderà il diploma!
I make a decoupage project, but I don't write anything more, because it's a gift for a great friend who will graduate next week!

Preparo i cantucci, di nuovo, questa volta per una coppia di amici di Ann e Gary dai quali siamo ospiti stasera, e la mia councelor di scuola, che mi sta aiutando con tutti i documenti che devo portare a scuola quando torno in Italia!
I prepare biscotti, again, this time for a couple of Ann and Gary's friends (we'll be their guests tonight), and for my councelor, who is helping me with all the documents that I need to bring to school when I go back to Italy!

Mentre siamo in macchina, questo paesaggio mi isola da tutto il resto: scatto la foto dal finestrino, mentre l'auto è in movimento, e non applico effetti, eppure per me è perfetta proprio così com'è. Mi mancheranno questi paesaggi!
While we're driving, this landscape isolates me from everything else: I take the picture from the window while the car is moving, and I do not apply effects, but for me it's perfect just like this. I will miss these landscapes!

Un'oretta al Coffee Tree con Ann, mentre leggiamo i nostri bellissimi libri (lei mi batte, perchè nello stesso tempo in cui io riesco a leggere una ventina di  pagine, lei ne completa 60 e finisce il libro. Bhè, almeno ora possiamo guardare il film...)
An hour at the Coffee Tree with Ann, while we read our beautiful books (she beats me, because while I can read twenty pages, she completes 60 and finishes the book. Well, at least now we can watch the movie...)

A scuola oggi: ultimo giorno ufficiale. Colazione con i seniors e pep assembly in palestra. Molto emozionante: ho ufficialmente finito la mia storia più o meno intensa con Thompson Valley. E' stato un piacere!

At school today: last official day. Breakfast with the seniors and pep assembly in the gym. Very exciting: I have officially finished my more or less intense story with Thompson Valley. It was a pleasure!

Il Colorado mi ha fatto una sorpresa oggi e ha fatto risvegliare il sole: anche Chiara si è svegliata e ha fatto una lunga passeggiata all'aria aperta!
Colorado surprised me today and let the sun rise: even Chiara woke up and made a long walk in the open air!

Mentre cammino, vedo un uccellino bellissimo in mezzo alla strada, e quando sto per immortalarlo in una fotografia, vola via. Quando arrivo a casa, allora, lo ricerco su una guida che Ann e Gary hanno appena ricevuto da una coppia di amici, e sono contenta di trovarlo nella sezione "Uccelli delle montagne del West". Si chiama Western Tanager e i suoi colori vividi mi impressionano ancora adesso!

As I walk, I see a beautiful bird in the road, and when I'm about to immortalize it in a photograph, it flies away. When I get home, then, I look for it in a guide that Ann and Gary have just received from a couple of friends, and I'm glad to find it in the "Birds of the West mountain" section. It's called Western Tanager and its vivid colors impress me still now!

Tennis Banquet: è un'emozione forte rivedere tutte le compagne di squadra e i coach! E' stata una bellissima stagione, ho imparato un nuovo sport, che cercherò sicuramente di portare avanti, e sono grata di aver avuto un così bel supporto dai miei genitori Ann e Gary, dai super disponibili coach e dalle divertenti compagne di squadra. Che dire, non avrei potuto fare una scelta migliore!

Tennis Banquet: it is a strong emotion to see again all the teammates and coaches! It was a great season, I learned a new sport, which I'll surely try to improve, and I am grateful to have had such a good support from my parents Ann and Gary, the super available coaches and the fun of teammates. What can I say, I could not have made a better choice!

E poi celebriamo questa fine della stagione di tennis con un buonissimo gelato, nella "casetta rossa" dove andavamo molto spesso all'inizio dell'anno, dopo cena. Qualcuno ricorda? E' un bellissimo regalo!!!

And then we celebrate this end of the tennis season with a delicious ice cream, in the "red house" where we went very often at the beginning of the year, after dinner. Does anyone remember? It is a beautiful gift!!!

Quando Gary torna a casa, ci porta la posta e c'è una busta per me: il risultato dell'ACT (esame per il college Americano). Sono contentissima del mio punteggio, avendolo migliorato di 4 punti dalla simulazione di settembre. La porta per il college negli Stati Uniti può così rimanere aperta, poi si vedrà...

When Gary comes home, he takes us the mail and there's an envelope for me: the ACT result. I am super happy for my score, having improved it by 4 points since the simulation in September. The door for the college in the US can therefore stay open, then we'll see...

Andiamo a scuola per ritirare alcuni documenti, e poi Dustin porta Barbara e me fuori per colazione, a Fort Collins. Che bella idea!! Chiacchieriamo tanto, e celebriamo la fine della sua carriera alle superiori -- inizierà il college ad Agosto!
Grazie per tutto Dustin, sei un ragazzo speciale e questo anno non sarebbe stato lo stesso senza di te! Per il tuo futuro, ti auguro tutta la fortuna del mondo, e ti aspetto in Italia per una vacanza oltreoceano!!

We go to school to pick up some documents, and then Dustin takes Barbara and me out for breakfast, in Fort Collins. What a nice idea!! We talk so much, and we celebrate the end of his career in high school -- he will start with college in August!
Thank you for everything Dustin, you're a special guy and this year would not have been the same without you! For your future, I wish you all the luck in the world, and wait for you to come to Italy for a vacation overseas!!

Nel pomeriggio, Ann va a Kickboxing, e Barbara ed io la seguiamo. Durante la sua lezione, vado a fare una passeggiata e mi semiperdo nel parco, ma poi ritrovo la retta via e raggiungo Barbara da Starbucks. Facciamo un salto da Walgreens per creme e gadgets, e poi torniamo a casa con Ann, stanca ma sempre incredibilmente allegra!

In the afternoon, Ann goes to Kickboxing, and Barbara and I follow her along. During her lesson, I go for a walk and I kinda get lost in the park, but then I find the right path and reach Barbara at Starbucks. We then go to Walgreens for creams and gadgets, and then we go home with Ann, who's tired but always incredibly cheerful!

Penso abbiate visto questo soggetto in tante, tante delle mie foto, ma questo pomeriggio non avevo molto da fare, e cucinare per Ann suonava proprio bene...
I think you've seen this subject in many, many of my pictures, but this afternoon I didn't have a lot to do, and cooking for Ann sounded very good...
