Day150

GIORNO 150
DAY 150

Today, during the Anatomy class, to conclude the unit on the eye, we participate in a lab on optical illusions, visiting the website www.michaelbach.de/ot. What amazes me the most is this illusion, where you have to find the face among the coffee beans. It took me a good 5 minutes, let's see how much time you will take! At the end of the post will put the same picture with the solution that I circled in red!

Going to Starbucks with Mathew after school, where we chat for almost two hours straight: he's a very knowledgeable guy and he explains us how politics works here in America, elections...!

GIORNO 149

DAY 149

Big smile and happiness, in my bedroom with the music while it's snowing outdoors

Prima ora: buca (sarà così tutti i giovedì questo semestre). Mi andava di camminare e correre...
First period: off (it'll be like this every Thursday this semester). I was up for walking and running...

And, to complete this active day: 20 minutes of stationary bike! It's in the basement and we can use it with different programs: weight loss, burning fat... With the music, paddling almost seems nice!

Carmen, Student Council "president", is writing on the board all the events that we'll organize or take part in, in this semester.

Here are the comments (in red and blue ink) that Matt and tanner, Seniors in the Student Council, left on my "survey"...

"Do you intend to run for Student Council for the 2016-17 school year?"
"No, I'll not be here unfortunately"
:( :(

"Thank you for being part of our Stu-CO! You have been such a big help! Coming to a whole new "life" is hard and you did great!"

"You have done an amazing job this year! I am very happy you joined Stu-CO and have gone out of your comfort zone. I am very happy to have met you!"

Besides the fact that I was moved when I read this thoughts, I want to tell you something:
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.

Ann and Gary went snowshoeing. They said it was beautiful! Unfortunately, on the way home, it started snowing and they got stuck in the traffic: Barbara and I are therefore responsible for our dinner, which will be... half a bagel with philadelphia, plus fruit and vegetables!

Day147

GIORNO 147
DAY 147

Tanti capelli e rossi i pomelli

I go running in the off hour, that is the second period in this semester, and I feel so energetic during the rest of the day! As for the new subjects and teachers, I still can not say anything, as today it was just a day of presentations (but not too much of practicing): we'll discover throughout the days!

Starbucks my second home <3

Regalo azzeccatissimo!!
What beautiful soft socks I got for Christmas from Ann and Gary!! You were spot on!!

My dinner (plus a carrot and some green beans)!

...And that's how the day began, with the post it that Ann left on the kitchen table and that we saw
as soon as we had breakfast. The awakening is always hard, but this gives a plus to my day.

Day146

GIORNO 146
DAY 146

Yes, today the day for me begins with the... Toilet. As soon as I flush it, all the water goes up and it doesn't want to go down. In panic, I write a text to Ann, who offers to help me, but I want to cope with the situation alone, so she brings me a plunger and I start working. Without going into details, after an hour I leave the bathroom, like a winner. Willy-nilly, being an exchange student means this too!

To start the second half of the school year, we go to the bar "The Muse" with Ann and Barbara, where I try a raspberry mocha that I love. I had never tasted it, especially because it is not provided in the Starbucks menu (the place that I frequent the most for coffee), but I remain pleasantly surprised.

Barbara with her new cell-phone, that turns out to be damaged and that she therefore returns today. I hope that everything will be all right!

In the afternoon, I go swimming, and I do a hundred laps (I'm destroyed in the end, but I'm very happy to have done it), then Barbara and I wait for Ann in the library, and go home to eat dinner.
Ready to start school again? Yes!

Day145

GIORNO 145
DAY 145

Birthday party for Elora: Cindy, Shayne's mother, organized everything perfectly. We ate pizza for lunch, played the game of mimes, blow out the candles on an ice cream cake (which I did not eat because one of my goals for the new year is to avoid sweets, but it looked very good) , drank coffee with hazelnut cream (very good), and chatted.

Negozio di importazione Francese e, in piccola parte, Italiana, a Longmont.
Shop with French and, to a small extent, Italian products, in Longmont.

In the late afternoon, we go running: today we do 2 miles (approximately 3 km), alternating run and walk. Gary comes with us, and Ann brings the phone, with which she maps the path and plays some music (making me laugh so much when she starts to dance a disco-type song)!!!

Our dinner (plus two eggs): smoothie with oranges, bananas, pears and apples. It's amazing to see how this machine works, I'm fascinated all the time..

Day144

GIORNO 144
DAY 144

I must say that I missed so much to write the blog, post pictures and share my days with you, but, in this way, I fully enjoyed this last week, that was special and full of emotions. The new year has started, and I take the opportunity to extend my warmest wishes to all of you (and, if like me you thought of resolutions for this 2016, there is nothing else to say except... let's pursue them together! ). All my love, Chiara.

After a half-hour walk, Barbara and I arrive at the CU campus in Boulder, where everything is quite, because of the holiday closure. But it is nice and fun to look around and see an environment that reminds me of some buildings that you can find throughout Europe. We find a natural history museum, where we drink a weird hot tea with blueberries. I would say that we are satisfied!

Our lunch in the Italian restaurant where I went with Maddalena last Monday (it seems a long time ago!) : Barbara takes the pasta carbonara, while I take a focaccia with zucchini, eggplant and grilled peppers, tomatoes and salad. Unfortunately, I must leave a little of the bread, because it's really a big portion, but otherwise it's very good.

Shop that sells items and food imported from Europe: this is the entry of the corner dedicated to my Italy!

Yesterday, together with Ann and Barbara, we also started a program to re-start to run after the holidays, which is called "Couch to 5k". Our goal will be to participate in as many 5k runs as possible, and the first one may be on Valentine's Day.
I'll leave the link of the program, if anyone is interested!
